The offensive line deserves their credit

We all get happy when we see one of our RBs get a lot of yards, and we start talking about if they can do this or that on a continuous basis (JJ), and we forget that if the OLine does not block halfway decent our RBs (JJ) does not have a good or great day.

So we should from now on first give the OLine their credit first and then the RBs, QB, WR etc.

So I would like to be the first to give props to the OLine for their blocking on Saturday helping JJ to his 194 yards, and I believe they will follow up with an even better performance Sunday night.

absolutely correct. Especially this year, we've learned the hard way how an offensive line can save, or in our case, kill, you.

Nobody wins a Super Bowl with a weak offensive line.

Most always, the team that does win it all has one of the best lines in the league.

Going all the way back to the Browns in the 1950s, the truly great teams dominate the offensive side of the ball.

Green Bay in the 60s - Kramer, Gregg and Skowronski
Oakland in the late 60s thru early 80 - Otto, Dalby, Shell, & Upshaw
Minnesota in late 60s & 70s - White and Tinglehoff
Rams in the 70s - Doug France
Dolphins in the 70 - Kuchenburg, Evans & Little

(I'm forgetting some great offensive linemen here)

Steelers in the 70s - Kolb and Webster
Cowboys in the Landry era - Niland, Manders, Neely, Nye, Wright, Donovan & Scott

49ers in the 80s - Cross & Paris
Commanders Hogs - May, Jacoby, Grimm, & Shlereth
Giants in 80s & Early 90s - Oats, Elliot & Riesenburg
Bears in the 80s - Hilgenburg, Thayer & Colvert

Cowboys in the 90s - Stepnoski, Gesek, Gogan, Newton, Allen, Williams & Teunei
Packers in the 90s - Rivera

See the point I am getting at. This does not mean that any players I forgot were not any good. You just cannot win a Super Bowl withough a solid offensive line.

Broncos, Ravens, Rams, Bucs and Patriots all had multiple linemen go the Pro Bowl the years they won the Super Bowl.

Most of them also had some pretty darn good tight ends as well.

The offensive line has to be Dallas' #1 priority going into the offseason.

True. Bledsoe is like an instrument to measure the quality of the Offensive line.

you are 100% correct. thats why i have kept the petitti background (representing the whole OL) . thats where it all starts.

Funny how they seemed to get better at run blocking for a while after Flozell left and then they got better again after Rivera left. Fresh legs definitely make a big difference.

Yep. I agree, it all starts upfront. Without the hole, Jones is road kill 30 times a game. We've seen it for so many games this year already. Last game was so sweet seeing JJ run again finally.

I agree, as much heat as that unit has taken (rightfully so) they went out and played a darn good game Sat. I was most impressed with the job Gurode did at guard.

I will give them promps for giving JJ his yards.....but, I will not forget the horrific pass blocking by out two tackles.....poor Drew!

Thank goodness Bledsoe is as tough as nails.
