There's one play of Ogletree's in preseason that gives me some extra optimism about this guy ....

OK the book is that he runs good routes, real good hands, we saw it in preseason, but we don't know if he can do it against top competition in the reg season ...

You guys may remember at the end of the first half in a preseason game (the last play of the half, time had/was running out), against I can't remember who, when Ogletree ran back a squib/short kickoff on the right side of the field when he was playing up-man... either that or he picked up a fumble ... (question mark here ?)

And he ran left all the way across the field and dang near ran it back for a TD (well almost) ... he took it 15-20-30 yards farther downfield than he had a right to. There were some "ooh ah" moments on that play. He looked almost like Devin Hester or somebody. He was the fastest guy on the field. .... AND he had awareness, picked up the loose ball, did something with it. ...

I don't know why, but this play stands out in my mind. Because of this, I think/hope he's got some above-average to excellent open field ability in the league against real NFL special teams .. ...

I don't think we've ever seen him when he's got the ball in the open field after a catch .... yet ....

I remember I said to myself, watching that play, that there was nobody else on the team that could have done that ... nice moves along the way.

(pardon me for making a recent post a thread ... I'm deadly afraid nobody would read my fine work ...)

It was preseason. How many times have we had players light up preseason then do nothing in the regular season. I'll reserve judgment until he plays in a real game.

With that paragraph, you literally just said "He made a play, that I don't remember what happened, against a team I don't remember. Do you remember it?" That might be why you have the lack of responses.

HOWEVER, I agree that he has top-end speed and will be a full-time NFL'er within the next 2 years (if not with us, someone else)

Mark my words Ogletree will be a pro bowl caliber receiver in the next few years.

Holley lit up preseason? He made one play after the other team made a boneheaded play. He's where he should be...the PS.

I didn't read your message correctly, I was thinking you were talking about making a big play or having a big game, not the pre-season as a whole. I digress..

One reason I want to see a little more of Kevin Ogletree is that he seems to run good routes and comes out of his breaks fast. When he got good separation against a top corner like San Fransisco's Nate Clements I started to think we may have found a diamond in the rough.
