Dallas’ personnel acquisition model is from the 80’s. All of the current contenders have been able to use rookie contracts to supplement their cap space to make aggressive moves to target and acquire the players they need; moreover, they deftly manage the cap. Windows are now 1-2 years in duration, so these teams don’t necessarily have to worry about long-term implications of the cap. This is the second time Philly has re-tooled their roster successfully for a Super Bowl run.
This is where the Jones’ are exposed as frauds; their moves, or lack thereof, demonstrate their lack of understanding of how a competitive football team is put together. They consistently overestimate the talent level and always think they are but 1-2 players away.
Philly is now better than Dallas; the Giants will be improved next year now that they have good coaching in-place; and give Washington a good coach and QB and they will give Dallas a run.
