The "Official" why do posters feel the need to lable a thread "official" thread

This thread http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showthread.php?p=640186#post640186 made me wonder . . .

Why do fans always start threads with the word "official" in it?

Is it to seperate your thread from competing, similarly themed threads on the forum?

If another poster were to start a thread simply titled "Why you hate the Skins", would other posters scoff at it, since it isn't the "official" thread?

Just wondering . . .

I got another question that I have wondered about over the years....

Why do people that get banned, come back with variations of their old name so it is easy to figure out who they were...even if part of the name now being used is...IMNOT....

Because Hos would always start the Sunday Game Threads "Cowboys Vs XXXXX***Official Game Thread***" and I have continued posting them the same way.

For what it's worth that's my opinion.
