The line was so bad, Bledsoe got benched and Witten Stayed in to block more than at any point ins career. Romo was good and ready to play, but if that line wasn't bad, he could've had success for another year or two. Romo's elusiveness was the only option.

Im sure this isn't his first offer but this is his first time seeing a weak receiving corp and getting a offer in the same off season while seeing your qb come off a down year.

Witten will be 36 come the start of the season, there comes a time in your life, where playing on a Sunday is not the be all and all, the body is in constant pain, with the knocks, you have enough money to retire on. Exactly. Get it while the gettin is good. Next season he would have to possibly compete with a new batch of retired players like Fitzgerald, Rivers, Brees, Palmer, etc for the same job.

You might have noticed they changed up many things including many coaches this year and Linehan has been more empowered by the Joneses while Garrett has been basically removed from the offensive game planning.

They most likely told Witten he would no longer play 100% of the snaps.

Garrett is the reason Witten played as many snaps as he wanted to play.

It was Linehan and the new WR coach who has previous connections to Linehan that pushed Dez out. Garrett wanted to keep Dez.

Dez didn't draw any attention away from a Witten. In fact a vending machine might have drawn more attention away frow Witten than Dez did. Dez is likely "done". That's why he doesn't have a job instead of the raise the Dez Fan Bois promised us Dez would get if he got cut.
