Chuck Connors as the Rifleman was a western I loved growing up. AMC is showing episodes on Saturday mornings all this month.

We need a good western TV show again.

As a kid I the Rifleman was one of the very few black and white shows I would watch.

Justified, the series on F/X based on Elmore Leonard's short story is terrific. It has Timothy Olyphant, who of course knows how to do western from doing Deadwood. It's a modern day show, but it has western elements. You should definitely check it out if you haven't seen it. Season 1 is out on dvd/blu ray now I think, and S2 is airing currently.

One of my favorite shows ever.

Thought Chuck Connors was perfect for the role.

The cool rifle was icing on the cake.

Chuck Connors was an amazing athlete...played with the Dodgers and Celtics and was the first player to ever smash a backboard albeit with a jumper.

He was also drafted by the NFL. If he would have realized the significance at the time he probably should have suited up. Could you imagine playing in the 3 major sports?

Brings back memories of watching this show with my dad after church on Sundays. Good times.

Totally Agree!

We need some actors like Chuck Connors or the Lone Ranger Clayton Moore that had values and cared about people. I was thinking this very thing just yesterday.

Excellent show still to this day. Sad to say a lotta those life lessons they taught are mostly gone by the wayside.
Also loved Maverick and to a lesser extent Alias Smith and Jones.
