Remember when the Bucs ran for 174 yards against Dallas in the season opener? The media crushed the Cowboys saying that they would not be able to win this year with such a weak rush defense. They didn't say that Dallas could fix it, they said they would not fix it and it would be a problem for them all year that would be exploited by the good teams.

I know after that first game it was a big concern on this board on how Dallas would shore up their run defense and in the end they have done just that. Dallas finished 4th in rushing yards allowed at 90.5 yards per game.

1. Green Bay-83.3 yds/g
2. Minn-87.1 yds/g
3. Pitt-89.9 yds/g
4. Dal-90.5 yds/g
5. Balt 93.2 yds/g

This is why you can't judge the season until the final game.

I remember more than just the media saying it. I think this defensive unit has made a lot of improvements since the 1st of the season and still showing sign of even more improvement.

To be completely accurate, since yards per play is generally a better indicator of success, we're tied for 8th with 3 other teams at 4.0 yards per rush.

It's almost as if all the new starters on defense took some time to gel.

Actually the best indicator of success is points allowed per game...

That puts us at #1 in the NFC (15.6 ppg) and #2 in the NFL... only behind the Jets (14.8 ppg)...
