Who was the last Defensive Tackle that was selected to the Pro Bowl in the Jonesboys Era (no Landry, Johnson, or Parcels)?

The issue with the Jonesboys vs. the Cowboys is that DL especially the DT position has not been a priority to Jerry and Stephen Jones. Yes they have drafted DTs in the first round but it has not been with foundational purpose.

Landry built his 4/3 and Flex Defense around the 1st pick in Cowboys History DT and Mr. Cowboy Bob Lily. He added Jethro Pugh, traded for John Dutton, sprinkled in Larry Cole, and converted a top pick LB to DT named Randy White. Jimmy Johnson built the foundation of his attack 4/3 defense on trading for Tony Casillas, drafting Russell Maryland no.1 overall, keeping Landry's future DT Chad Hennings, sprinkled in a DT from the U Jimmie Jones, and added Leon Lett with a late round pick. Parcels cleaned house and in one draft took 1st round pick Marcus Spears, drafted Chris Canty, Jay Ratliff, and the next year he took the answer to the trivia question...Jason Hatcher.

Defensive Football is about trench warfare to stop the run and put inside pressure in the QB face. That means you have to have DTs. DEs are the icing on the cake to get the sack glory. They need a DT to push the QB into the DE Sack.

The Cowboys have never got to a NFC Championship, won a NFC Championship, Got to a Super Bowl, or won a Super Bowl without a DT foundational purpose on Defense and a Pro Bowl DT or former Pro Bowl DT (1992 they had Tony Casillas on the roster starting) starting on the roster.

With Jason Hatcher your last Pro Bowl DT, the Jonesboys will never grow up to be Cowboys.

You can look at cap allocation by year and see the Cowboys are routinely in the bottom 10 teams, often bottom 5.

The true contenders are routinely in the top 10.

Any organization with a semblance of self-scouting ability would see this immediately and figure something out.

Not us, though

Good points , the main problem of Jerry and son is only wanting to spend on flashy positions and ignore the defensive trenches. Without a top 10 defense very few teams succeed in the playoff and go on to win championships.

Run D and pass rush without blitzing will always allow a team to be in the game , they cant be blown out and With decent offense grind back and get back into the game , if you compare the last few playoff losses or blown out games this was evident.

When things get complex simple people will quickly lose control of things. They then try to simplify things by defining only one problem which for them is the only reason for failure.

Then they try to find examples why their opinion is the right one. Makes them feel in control again.

But some problems are just what they are: complex. Thats why you have experts to find working solutions. And pay them a lot of money. And you have simple people who carry away the trash or wash the dishes.
