We should not trade for anyone, should not rush Dak, Tyron or Gallup back. Best thing would be to take our lumps this year and get the high draft pick. Ideally, it would be high enough to get a new franchise QB on a 5 year rookie deal. That is truly the only way to compete for a super bowl in the salary cap era.

Yea, it’ll be bad this year. Also Zeke is done, Ceedee can’t catch the ball, and I don’t think Tyron can come back.

I really like Bryce Young. I am not sure what type of NFL player he will be yet though. It would be fascinating what Dallas would do with the #1 pick. Would they even look at QB?

I agree with not mortgaging the future to try to polish this turd. The Jones boys made this bed, let them lie in it.

In their rush to send Cooper packing, they mistakenly thought that Lamb could pick up that slack. Clearly they were wrong. He doesn’t look like a ‘star in the making’ that some made him out to be.

Between losing the left tackle (again!), and now the high-priced quarterback, and a gutted receiver group, this year already looks like a wash.

I was thinking the same thing. Or do you trade it for 2 or 3 firsts the next year and then suck again. They’re looking at a few years I think.

The biggest failing of the Jones era (and that is saying a lot) is not putting all of the chips in and making a run (like the Seahawks) when we had Dak on a rookie contract. If we get a top 5-8 pick in the draft, we should draft a QB and trade Dak. And then go aggressive to build the team around the rookie Qb.

cant trade Dak because these morons didn’t just give him 42 million/y but also a no trade clause

why would he go to a franchise where he has to work for a living when he can get paid to do nothing here except throw around cliches ?

A franchise QB on a 5 year rookie deal is what most people have been saying for years. Dak won a single play off game during his rookie contract - the front office should have let him walk at that point like the Browns did with Mayfield. They didn't and now the team is left in this mess with a gimpy injury prone limited QB on a horrible contract.

One of the issues there was the Romo money didnt go away because he retired. Could they still have done more, and went all in like LA has done? Possibly.

Even with taking a QB next year you have Dak on the books for $50MM each of the next two years and another $21MM then 4MM once his deal is up. By the time the Dak money isnt a factor in 2026 the discussion around singing the new guy begins.

Dallas is not #1 pick bad. For starters, they play Washington and New Jersey each twice. Even if Dallas were picking high enough to get a true prospect QB, it doesn't make sense to pull the trigger on one only to waste two years behind Dak.

If after June 1st

2023 Dead Cap: $18MM
2024 Dead Cap: $39MM

Bigger question becomes do you have an actual suitor for Dak? This seems more realistic than it did in previous years as we have seen more qb turnover the last three years than ever before. Still unless Dak comes back and shows a lot more than he did last night his value is going to be in the negative when his contract is factored into the equation.

Maybe there is a situation with a disgruntled QB that we could swap with like a Baltimore? Its an interesting thought, but now you have to give out another huge deal and probably include a pick to get that deal done. Maybe a team like New England or Houston decides to give up on the project QBs? We don't really know what the QB landscape will look like after this season just yet.

I am afraid we need to keep Dak until the end f the 2024 season. But one thing we cannot do is restructure his deal again next year pushing more of his money into the voided years. That would put us in a position of having to extend him or take a huge CAP hit.

If they get a shot at a franchise QB, they should take him and let him sit behind Dak for a year. They can cut Dak after the 2023 season and get a CAP save in the range of about $12 million, unless they do something stupid like restructure his deal again.

But if you are going to move on from Dak in 2024, then it would be best to move on from all the overprices vets, like Zeke, Tyron, DLaw, etc.

To the contrary. That is what this whole season was. A generic one at that.

Tyron and Zeke are playing their last years in DAL IMO. I thought that DLaw’s contract restructure made him reasonable to keep?

DLaw's CAP hit next year is $26 million. To me that's unreasonable for what he brings tot he table.
