After two years as one of the state's smallest Class 6A schools, Highland Park is now one of the largest in 5A. That's one reason for optimism, along with a strong group of returning players that includes the productive linebacker trio of John House, Bennett Brock and Matt Gahm.
Highland Park coach Randy Allen also began practice Monday knowing that he'll have one of the area's most experienced offensive lines. The quarterback behind that line, however, will be nearly as green as Highland Park's field.
Senior Michael Clarke attempted 11 passes last season, and he's the most experienced QB on the roster. He's battling for the starting spot with senior Jack Fain and junior John Stephen Jones, the grandson of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones...
