Diamond star thrills astronomers

Twinkling in the sky is a diamond star of 10 billion trillion trillion carats, astronomers have discovered.

The cosmic diamond is a chunk of crystallized carbon, 4,000 km across, some 50 light-years from the Earth in the constellation Centaurus.

It's the compressed heart of an old star that was once bright like our Sun but has since faded and shrunk.

Astronomers have decided to call the star "Lucy" after the Beatles song, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

DeBeers keeps the supply of diamonds artificially constrained. They are sitting on tons of diamonds, to keep the price high.

Don't know what their plans are to deal with the industrial diamond manufacturers, who can make flawless diamonds at a lower price.

I have no clue I refuse to spend big money on diamonds or gold I mean; I do not get gold other than it is a soft medal and a good conductor
