About the beginning of last summer I was sitting in my garage practicing some guitar when these two young black dudes came walking up. They seemed to be nicely dressed and courteous and were selling magazines for some organization they were in to help them get an education. Okay...

Anyway, I did not want to just outright reject them because they had the pitch down! So, I played around with them for awhile, looking at some of the mags they were selling, trying to be polite but at the same time not wanting to buy anything from them.

Oh, by the way, they were from Dallas and I told them I was a Cowboy fan, but they were Houston fans....

Anyway, after about 20 minutes or so, because they were polite, I decided to help them out. I ended up giving them $65.00 cash for a 2 year subscription of Woodworking Magazine, filled out their little form, gave then some water because it was hot. They thanked me and told me that their supervisor would call me later that night to verify my purchase and away they went. I never received that phone call.

I should have know better! :bang2:

I got burned...until yesterday, when I received my first copy of Woodworking Magazine.

Risk taker. Donald Trump would be proud of you. :D

On a serious note, I would love to have a woodworking shop and build furniture. It's one of those childhood things that have lingered into adulthood. I have actually designed some furniture, just never had the means to bring it into fruition.

So what-a-ya going to build?

I don't know what to build, this mag has tons of advertisements of woodworking tools that I need to buy first!

I bought a copy of that magazine a Lowe's about 8 or 9 years ago. The back page had a reader's contribution of a cigar box trimmed in African ebony. The thing had like 130 parts put into it. Beau-teee-ful piece of art.

Took me a few minutes to realize that woodworking is going to be a major occupation of mine once I get good and retired 30 years from now.

Any good red-blooded American male has that need to build with their hands buried somewhere in their psyche. Woodworking magazine converts that subconscious need to an addiction at first glance. It's an evil magazine. Evil, I tell you, evil.

It took them 10 months to get you the first issue of the magazine? :laugh2:

It's not uncommon. You have to be careful with those guys too. Sometimes they are scammers. Of course, people have been robbed and/or raped buy those types of guys too.

I just don't open the door.

My Dad has a woodworking business in McKinney, TX. He does anything from replacement furniture to display cases. He also does restoration work around the city on homes and public buildings.

Here's some of his stuff - http://www.sdhwoodworking.com/index.htm

Gorgeous stuff in there, Faerluna. You're Dad is talented. I really liked the kitchen hutch with the rounded top half.
