So, so true.
Happy to say that I've been blessed with few regrets in that area.
Spent this weekend watching my 12 year old daughter play basketball. 90 minute commute. Hot stuffy gym. Backbreaking bleachers.
I love having opportunities to literally cheer for my loved ones in life. Sports is a great outlet for that but certainly there are others. Telling them how you love them, and finding good in them even during a difficult loss. Being their fan. That's what we did yesterday.
We have 4 kids. The other three are 25, 22 & 20. This 12 year old is our swan song of adolescence and I so appreciate it. Soon "daddy" will become a less frequent refrain along with hand holding, kisses on the forehead, and requests to "play with me".
I grabbed my wife's hand as we headed into the gym this weekend and told her I didn't want to miss that opportunity to "be with her" because you never know how much is left.
Good stuff.
