These are what we really spent our draft picks.

12. Tyler Booker OG Alabama
44. Donovan Ezeiruaku DE Boston College
76. Shavon Revel Jr. CB
114. Jonathan Mingo WR (Panthers)
149. RB Jaydon Blue RB Texas
152. Shemar James LB Florida
170. Kaiir Elam CB (Bills)
171. Joe Milton III QB (Patriots)
188. Kenneth Murray LB (Titans)
204. Ajani Cornelius OT/OG Oregon
217. Jay Toia DT UCLA
239. Phil Mafah RB Clemson
247. Tommy Akingbesoto DT Maryland

So does this mean we are better than last year. Will have to wait and see although it is somewhat promising.

The OL is definitely better all around. Steele dealt with the recovery of his ACL the first part of the season and seemed to be like the Steele of the year before the last six games. Guyton had his adjustment period but showed promise the last few games. He will be the key in training camp. If he becomes the guy they believe they drafted then we have one helluva OL for a few years.

DL is going to rest on if Mazi Smith actually becomes the guy we thought when we drafted him in the first round. Having Rogers helps and hopefully Toia is a late round gem and maybe also Akingbesoto to help spell Osa. If not, maybe a 3 Tech is still in the works. DE is the best it has looked in years with Parsons, Williams, Ezeiruaku, Kneeland, Fowler, and Turner. Thomas can be a DT/DE. Will be interesting to see how this falls out in training camp. Have to remember our D coach like to rotate the DLine a lot so expect 10/11 to make the 53.

We didn't draft a WR which tells us that they weren't enamored with any of them. So expect top FA to be signed such as Allen or Cooper or Boyd or Moore. Real believe the coaching staff is higher on Tolbert, Mingo, Brooks, and Flournoy than we fans are. Same goes for TE as it seems to be fairly set.

LB seemed a weak point to me but with trading for Murray, signing Sanborn and with Clark, Liufau and mid season for Overshown and drafting James, it is much better than most think. Know the fans were down on James but if you watched SEC football, he was an impact player and great ST guy and he fits the scheme we now run for LBs.

Our RB draft class is a bit puzzling but again I think we might pick up another veteran such as Nick Chubb. Blue is definitely the 3rd down back and screen back. Fast and take it to the house guy. Mafah will be fighting for a job. If I had to guess right now, it would be Williams, Blue, and a fight for 2 spots unless we sign Chubb then just 1 spot.

Secondary definitely improve from FA to the draft. Elam was playing wrong scheme for him in Buffalo and should rebound well in our new scheme. Revel is perfect for our defense scheme. Bland should be back at full tilt by training camp although the Diggs situation has to be watched. Booth, Butler and Carson should benefit from the different scheme we have now. Safeties are pretty much set although I wouldn't be surprised if we traded Wilson during training camp.

Like it or not Dak is the QB and will be much better with a much better OL. He should be able to best his 2023 numbers in an offense that will run the ball more and hoping that either Mingo or Tolbert or hopefully Cooper become the #2 WR.

There is hope, the hope we stay healthy and the OL/DL beat up our opponents.
