“This year, we have a new policy going into effect where all of the clubs are going to have to make a head coach available live for an interview during the game,” Yancy said. “Each team has to provide a head coach; one in the first half, one in the second half. And that’s for all teams, and it’s available for all TV partners.”

Seems like most Hcs were available in the past. Maybe not live on TV but they at least shared some thoughts with the sideline reporters

I'm sure coaches will be excused for punching the reporter trying to get their interview when the game is on the line with only a minute left to go.

I hate this. What could possibly be good or interesting in these interviews? What would coaches be revealing that was “inside information”? It is so stupid.

My all time favorite halftime head coach interview was the late great Mike Leach. He hated those stupid interviews too. He would patiently wait for the long stupid question like,
Sideline Reporter: “Coach Leach your team scored late to cut it to a 7 point deficit but your defense is struggling to stop them. What do you need to do in the second half?”
Leach: “Play better”.

Interviewing HC's during the middle of the game is dumb. Don't understand the reason for this. Leave them alone!!
There’s not one thing they are going to say that is insightful, meaningful or strategic. They are just gonna blow Coach smoke. Why anyone thinks that kind of interview is either needed or interesting is beyond me.

Yeah they need more distractions. When you talk with Mikey remind him to call TO.

Good news for coach Jerry since he loves the attention.

This sucks. I don't want to hear a thing from the coach when he should be focused on winning a game. I mean neither coach. They should flog RogerbG for even allowing this.

Just another example permitted by the league, all for the sake of entertainment. Some audience viewers are entertained by any and everything outside of runs, passes, blocks, tackles, dropped passes and interceptions. The league is meeting this need, even though it is not shared by all viewers.

Attention spans become more fleeting as more entertainment choices outside sports become more available. Retaining as many non-devoted entertainment viewers as possible 'validates' viewership numbers. Viewership numbers underscore contractual demands of broadcasters. Contractual demands equal securing ever increasing broadcasting rights agreements, which in turn means more billions for the league.

A particular CowboysZone member is correct about one thing. I have said it for years also. The NFL is turning into an entertainment choice that mirrors 'professional' wrestling, with the same types of bells and whistles targeted for viewers, who would otherwise get tired of watching and turn the channel or switch to a streaming alternative.

Meanwhile, viewers, who are just watching a game, match, etc., must put up with totally unnecessary nonsense. So. GET YOUR POPCORN READY! Let's hear the head coach. Otherwise, Fred and Ethel may get bored, change to and catch the latest episode of Bridgerton. And Goodell cannot have that sort of thing happening, can he?

Lol, always loved him.
