That name sounds like a leader of a motorcycle club, lol. When we discussed the big hybrid SS/LB two names often come up-JOK and Nasirildeen from Florida State, but nobody talks about Deablo from Virginia Tech. Looking at his measurements-6'3 226, doesn't that awfully look just like Seattle's former Safety, Kam Chancellor? I see all three players as box players who can play either S/LB. Deablo might not be as talented as the first two, but our DC certainly should have interest in such a player.
Here is his scouting report:
Divine Deablo came to Virginia Tech to play wide receiver but transitioned to safety after his freshman season where he went on to start for three seasons. While he enters the NFL with plenty of experience, he’s still a work in progress when it comes to processing and responding to play concepts. In addition, he’s a limited athlete that lacks fluidity, which presents restrictions with the roles he can fill in the defensive back seven. He does have some occasional flashes of physicality, but he does not consistently play up to his weight class and serve as an imposing presence in the secondary. At the next level, it will be critical for Deablo to excel on special teams to give him an opportunity to develop his skill set and become more consistent across the board. As it stands, he’s an oversized safety that lacks versatility and has athletic limitations.
Ideal Role: Dime linebacker, special teams.
Scheme Fit: Zone heavy.
