4 Free Agent Signings
Chris Jones
Danielle Hunter
Derrick Henry
Jaylon Johnson
I just think nothing in our recent history suggests we'd make these moves. They aren't bad moves...we just won't be doing them
I think it's far more likely we re-sign Pollard and Gillmore then sign Henry and Johnson, both of which would be far more expensive
In addition, as opposed to signing Hunter and Jones, I honestly think they'd redo DeMarcus Lawrence's deal again and resign Tyron Smith at a modest price and Hankins for cheap
Also worth noting Brandin Cooks is under contract for 2024 and you don't have him as leaving in free agency or on the roster. Same for Gallup, but I think he'd be a potential post June 1st cut
As far as a big splash goes, I think they do what they did last year and look at the trade market.
-I think the best time to deal for DeForest Buckner was probably last year, but I could see him being traded this year if he's not open to an extension ($20 million+ base salary). We should be able to absorb this if we make Gallup a post June 1st cut.
-Jonathan Allen and or DaRon Payne have a good likelihood of being dealt. Payne won't save them as much, but may be more of a sell high scenario and given how far Washington is from competing, I can see a trade in the division if it's the best offer.
-Outside chance we could even swing a deal for Aaron Donald...his final year under contract is 2024 and he counts $34 million+ against the cap. They have the space, but it may be more to their advantage to deal him if he's open to playing for another team.
-If we go the free agent route, which I think will be too expensive...I think Ed Oliver or Christian Wilkins would be better choices, but Leonard Williams would probably be closer to the price we actually want to pay
