TJ Yate's agent just said he was medically cleared to resume playing football.

Seems like he is the best back up option out there. Thoughts?

He's medically cleared. But no training camp, is he in game shape?

We need someone to be the backup on Sept. 11

I think I would rather sign Christian Ponder. And not because he already knows Norv's system. But because he would be more successful if used like Dak. Give him RPO (run-pass options) and he can use his athletic ability to make plays. He is also more accurate on roll outs, just not a great drop back passer. As a back up to Dak, he is my preference, do not have to change plays or game plans.

Open up playbook when Tony get's back. No other back up out there is going to do what Tony does, but a simplified playbook that makes them read run-pass would allow more options at back up QB.

I liked Yates to some extent when he was with Houston but his past beyond toward the end of that experience and after that didn't do him any favors. All in all, there were just too many picks in his resume to make him attractive.

I prefer Aaron Murray greatly. Wanted him in the draft, think he can do something great with our supporting cast.
