35 years ago today. I'll never forget getting home from work and turning on SportsCenter. My jaw literally hit the floor when I heard the news. Like every other Cowboys fan I was in shock. The Cowboys were in the middle of a terrible season and it felt like it just got worse. Little did we all know what the future held!!!

No one would be stupid enough to give up that much for one player these days. The closest we’ve seen is what Cleveland gave up for Deshaun Watson and look where that’s gotten them. Or what San Francisco gave up to move up for Trey Lance and that blew up in their face. Carolina gave up the farm for the chance to draft Bryce Young and that backfired. Chicago still has their second round pick next April.

Fantastic trade by Jimmy and then took Emmitt Smith at pick 17 in the next 1990 Draft.

Jimmy did not intend to get Emmitt which was ironic

IT has become known in the NFL as "THE GREAT TRADE ROBBERY"

wikipedia says it was the largest trade of picks and players in the history of the nfl when you total it all up from all teams involved.

Funny thing is they thought Dallas was stupid.

Most thought they were stupid trading away their best player. The Rams made a similar trade a few years earlier sending Eric Dickerson to Baltimore. That one didn’t work out very well for them.

a bit overrated as none of the players lasted and some of the supposed "guys we got with Minny's picks" were actually drafted with a new pick where we took one of ours and one of Minnys and moved up
Great trade yes but the narrative of "we only won 3 SB's because of that lucky trade" is ludicrous

It was a truly epic trade. But good Lord Herschel was so much fun to watch.
