We should have hired Reid. I couldn't believe the Eagles fired him. He was so much better than what we had.

Hard to believe Landry only won 20 playoff games.
I doubt Andy Reid would’ve been interested in working for Jerry. He would’ve ended up handcuffed just like all the other Cowboys head coaches. I’m sure he has much more control in KC than he would’ve ever gotten with the Cowboys. He wasn’t about to be another Jerry Jones puppet. I believe Reid has a pretty big say in personnel with KC. Possibly total control of personnel. It was his decision to trade up and deaft Patrick Mahomes. Jerry has the final say on personnel with the Cowboys.

Andy Reid has been successful with good QB play. He drafted Donovan McNabb his first year in Philly. Things started to go sour for Reid in Philly when McNabb started to decline and he got stuck with Michael Vick. His final two seasons in Philly with Vick as his QB were 8-8 and 4-12. Things really took off for him in KC when Mahomes became his QB. The success of an HC is really dependent on their QB. All the coaches that just got fired had QB issues.

If you look at Landry’s career as 3 decades, the 20 playoff wins are more impressive. Here are his playoff wins by decade:
  • 1960s- 1
  • 1970s- 14
  • 1980s- 5
In the 60s, the Cowboys were an expansion team who didn’t even get a draft pick until year 2. They didn’t make the playoffs until 1966.

The 70s were a completely dominant era. The Cowboys won 14 playoff games, including 2 SBs, 5 NFC championships, and 7 road playoff games. All in one decade. Landry even won 5 playoff games in the 80s before his teams went south before Jerry bought the team. We have won 5 playoff games in 27 seasons, so Landry was pretty amazing between 1970 and 1985.

It was the greatest era of Cowboys football. Every year we knew going into the season that we were going to be in the playoffs. The only question was could we win the SB. The 90's Cowboys were great but it was so short lived. If only Jimmy had stayed a few more years.

True. But by JJs own admission, Parcells was hired so Jerry could build support for his new stayjum. Once he got the financing done, he went back to meddling - like forcing TO on him.
Yep, I agree with it all, just thought I would add that little correction.
