Tony Pauline: His league sources saying Belichick in play if Jerry unsatisfied with seasons end

At the start of December, I wrote an article saying the word from league insiders was Dan Quinn would take over as head coach of the Cowboys if Dallas did not make a deep run into the playoffs.

Yet many of those same people now tell me that they believe, with Bill Belichick available, that he’s the man the Dallas Cowboys turn to if Jerry Jones is not satisfied with the way his team ends the season. If this comes to fruition, it should surprise no one, like Belichick’s exit from New England.

Take it for what it is worth but Pauline has been around forever and is well connected in the league.

Jerry will be unhappy if our only home loss this season is a one and done in the playoffs. However, I don’t see Belichick taking over.

You wrote this article in the link yourself?

Edit: My apologies. You gave an article not by you. Would you mind sharing yours?

I have a hard time believing that Jerry fires Mike. It would take a monumental collapse (see: Eagles).
I dont know. His initial response to MM job security was luke warm at best.. The thing is I dont trust Belichick to do personnel or offense. Now defense that is another story. But Jerry is 81 and time is growing short. His way hasnt cut it in decades.

Bill is used to being fully in charge of a team and picking his own staff and players

he would have no where near that level of control here....he'd be able to pick his own coordinators like McCarthy did but players? no

If we’re out of the playoffs after Sunday, I’m down for this.
Me too. I would love this if we get bounced in WC or divisional round.

Belicheck is a defensive coach and is demanding. We need both of those, especially if DQ leaves. He’s also good at cheating so when in Rome. I guess I’d rather cheat than be cheated.

As Doc Holliday said in Tombstone, “my hypocrisy only goes so far”.

Has anyone seen the team he's built in New England? Old, slow and no weapons - he had roster/draft control.

It was Brady. It was always Brady. Belichick is/was a good DC but he's no mastermind as a head coach.
They don't care. Most cowboy fans have no clue what's going on around the NFL. why do you think when a big name free agent is available he's wanted here and Jerry is bashed for not getting them? This is no different. Just clueless fans that remember him with Brady

Hard to say what goes on behind the scenes, maybe Jerry feels like the team's deficiencies are due to decisions signed off on by MM... Or this media person is full of poop, which many of them are.

Stick with my original prediction. Coach Mac has to get past Divisional Round to keep his job. NFL is full of guys that went all way to the Super Bowl, went to multiple Playoff games, and still got fired.

Jerry is five minutes to midnight on the death bed. Neither him nor Belichick looking at many more good years left. No more long-term commitments or rebuilds, they both want results.

Belichick is part of the Jimmy and Parcells family. Belichick probably done with rookie QBs. Belichick was the one who pulled out the LT comparisons with #11. I bet he looks at Micah and realizes what he could do in a 3-4.

Jerry was already having secret talks with Parcells before he fired Campo. Entire NFL does stuff like that, undermining current coaches, they just don't all admit it.

Makes a lot of sense.

Belichick is a coach.

His team building is poor. An awful GM.

Belichick is a mastermind as a coach. He’s the best to ever do it actually.
