If Tony Romo had a Twitter account, he’d probably be posting :( The Cowboys quarterback said while he understood the business side of running back DeMarco Murray leaving for Philadelphia, it was also a move that hit him at a personal level.

It just happened, so you have to process everything,” Romo said, via Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com. “All the way up until today, I was still thinking we’d be able to keep DeMarco. Obviously, it’s not an ideal situation.I’m losing a close friend, too, so that hurts.

“We have to trust in the process and the people making the decisions. We have salary cap implications and a bunch of other things that we have to decide. That plays a role. The Eagles obviously thought as highly of him as we did.”

“I may have tried a few times, maybe just a few,” Romo said. “But sometimes that’s just a reality. And sometimes that’s disappointing.”

Translation .. Romo: I'm sad to see him go, but I understand. I got my money and he should get his, and while I'll miss him, I won't miss him enough to give any of my money back for him.

Why should he? It's not Romo's job to compensate for mismanagement of cap allocations. Romo is the last guy on the team that should give any money back.

What's a broken back and punctured lung go for these days?

His salary is fine but his cap number is totaly messed up due to years of pushing money down the road. Not his fault the team wasn't run properly for years.

I cannot believe the progress Romo has made in the past, say, 2 years. This guy grew so much as a leader in the past couple years. And no, I havent always been a Romo supporter. But for what he has shown me the past 2 seasons, on and off the field, I'll never have another gripe with this man. He is gold.

Yep, they give JAGS like Carr $10 a year and then want Romo to give money back to keep their stud RB

Oh that's right, I forgot that McFadden and a rookie are going to tag team for 2000 yards.

LOL........SB here we come!!!!!!

I didn't say he "should" give any money back. Just like I said in the Dez thread, the top salary players on the team need to accept that they are a larger part of the salary cap equation that comes into play when deciding what the team can offer to other players. It's not their fault directly, but they can't play the "oh, that's a shame" angle when we lose players because of it. I don't blame any of them for getting their money. I just don't want to hear any of the "shock" and "disappointment" comments from them when we lose players to other teams.

Considering the way that the Cowboys have done business in the past, I'm sure Romo was a little shocked and disappointed, to be honest.

Well romo and Dez we can't pay a top RB top money and pay qb 17 million salary and have to franchise a WR because he wants more Money too. There is a cap in place guys.

Tony handled the interview well, just as one might expect. Too bad Jerry had to overpay him but that's history.
If the organization had tended to re-signing him earlier than they did, it probably would never have happened.
DeMarco is another who should have had his contract tended to earlier. That delay also proved unfortunate.
