Tony Romo's collarbone surgery was a success

http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/tony-romo-dallas-cowboys-collarbone-surgery-successful-030816

After breaking his left clavicle twice during the 2015 season, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo can begin the healing process following successful surgery to strengthen the bone Tuesday.

The 35-year-old quarterback will need six to eight weeks to recover and rehab before he can return to football-related activities, according to a statement released by the team. The team's website reported that the surgery was intended to prevent further injury and wasn't medically necessary to help the bone heal.

Romo broke his clavicle in a Week 2 win against the Eagles and didn't return until Nov. 22, when the Cowboys snapped a seven-game losing streak in his absence. The following game, Romo reinjured the collarbone against the Panthers and was finished for the season. The Cowboys finished 4-12 after going 12-4 the previous year, and the loss of Romo was the main reason.

We wont really know if it was successful until he gets crushed in a game

I'd like to see his equipment get modified help provide more support also.

It might help if they gave Tony a sawed off shotgun to shoot anyone who got close enough to drop him.

Of course, holding a shotgun and taking snaps might present something of a problem in itself. -- LOL

I think this year he drops back, counts to 3, and hits the deck. He might make it through the season that way.
We don't need all this surgery stuff.

If only we could create a system that allowed him to let go of the football quickly on slant routes and quick passes. Oh wait. It's better to leave him back there for 10 seconds waiting for someone to win 1-1 matchups

Have you ever seen a story indicating that, at least initially, that a surgery on an athlete was not a success?

Nope. Nor have I managed to read an article about a successful surgery without someone pointing out that they never say the surgery was unsuccessful.

I guess that would literally make it a true shotgun formation.

What 6 to 8 weeks recovery time...but not in Dallas. So this will or should make him available for OTA's?
Anyone want to bet he won't throw in OTA's, then there will be some reason he won't in mini camp either.....just the past 3 year history is all I have to go on....

Will just have to wait and see, not going to be concerned at this point in time. Way to early for any of that. I just hope he throws and get that timing back, not only with Dez, but all his weapons.

I'm in agreement on him not throwing in OTA's, I would be shocked if he did (even without having had surgery). But I'll bet he throws (and takes PS game snaps) in TC...we simply cannot afford to have him start the regular season with no activity.

It appears to me that Romo's recovery time will be rushed yet again this year when the same thing last year proved sorely catastrophic. This unfortunate situation really serves to give just cause to stress the need for the Cowboys to find, sign and groom a young QB ASAP.

It also seems to me that Jerry's constant mentioning of Romo in terms of playing another four to five years becomes a thorn in the side of many Cowboys fans when it's clearly obvious that his words amount to little more than wishful thinking.

I sometimes can't help but wonder if he regards his team's fans as gullible and idiotic to be swallowing such stuff. I have to believe it would likely be appreciated by many if he abandoned the constant mentioning of his 'four to five years' mantra. Nobody's buying it.

It's March 9th. Exactly how is his recovery time being rushed? 6-8 week recovery and some rehab when training camp is 4 1/2 months away seem more than enough time.

Isn't that pretty much what we heard around this time last year? How'd that work out?

Turned out fine. The problem was we held him out to much instead of letting him work off the rust in preseason.

I guess your idea of fine and mine are entirely different scenarios. The end results were a season for him that was cut short by many weeks and a 4-12 record in the aftermath.

Seems like that would be tremendously speculative, even by a fully licensed and capable specialist.

But that didn't have anything to do with what happened in the prior off season.

But that didn't have anything to do with what happened in the prior off season.

The prior offseason was one that had Romo waiting until the time was insufficient for the bone to heal completely. That assessment was well documented by some of those close to the team.

I'm pulling for him to recover as much as anyone. Hopefully the end results won't be repeated. They're trying another method this time. It'd be great if he returns better than ever but only time will tell.
