Too Early to Enshrine Tyler Smith into the HOF

Personally, I think he has a shot to make it if he stays on this trajectory. I expect his biggest leap to be next year, after one more full season of football, and some offseason. I believe we're looking at a pro bowl level LG at least by next year, and possibly even this year.

I like to see him bullying out there. I just think as good as he is at LG, he's too good to not play at LT.. I know, I know, we have Tyron Smith. We also know he's not exactly known to play for an entire season, since ever. No disrespect to Tyron. I just like Tyler that much if we're trying to make our team better. I fear their stubbornness to recognize this at some point will cost us.

Then again, maybe their theory is to have a stronger interior, and, in that case, that'd be the set up. I just think you have a better overall line with Bass at LG, and Tyler at LT, which I think is what our OL will look like next year. So I feel like there's a delay in transition, kind of like the old Emmitt days...

But, anyway, yeah, it looks like Tyler is quickly becoming our best OL. Even out there with some studs..

We need a LT in next year's draft... Just sucks because we have so many other needs as well.

According to Stephen Jones, he is the future at LT after Tyron retires.
Very likely, he played well there his rookie year. I do think he needs to add some strength to take on these interior guys but his speed and quick feet put him in a good position against speed rushers on the end.

But Warren Sapp said he shouldn't be in the NFL.
Sapp was a decent player. A bit overrated. But I've never taken him seriously. Tyler is no Larry Allen. But he's his own man, and I believe has the ability to make the HOF on his own merit, right there next to Tyron at guard or tackle.

He holds his own at tackle, and will only get better.

What? Since when has anyone ever been a HOF candidate 6 games into only the 2nd season of their career?

We don't need Tyler Smith to be a Hall of Fame left tackle when he takes over the spot next year. If he can be prime, Pro Bowl years Flozell Adams that would be enough. Being serious.

We all know Tyron is on the back nine here.

When his run ends they’ll flip Tyler back out to LT since he proved last year he could play out there.

Sapp is an idiot but he’s far from a HOF player right now. He hasn’t played all that great as a whole but he has the physical tools to be good. But he needs to stay at one spot till he learns it well

I used to think like this. But then I came to appreciate Pass2Run’s unique thread ideas.

Take a moment to reread that thread title, and then imagine the kind of twilight zone back-and-forth discourse that is going to take place over the next week in here. This is the kind of thread that keeps the savages fed, the pent up aggression redirected, and the delinquents at bay. Cowboyszone needs this thread.

So next time you’re about to click on a zany thread title and notice that profile picture next to it, say to yourself….

Well some had Micah in the HOF his rookie year.
Over reaction is a given.
He played pretty well last year at LT given no training camp there and being a rookie from a not exactly elite program.
This year not so much but I think still pretty good.
The fact is that the NFL is loaded with extremely physically talented guys but only a tiny fraction make it to the HOF.

How about we see if he can make pro bowl or all- pro team before we enshrine him.

I was joking with the Sapp comment. He's been one of the better players on the line. I'm guessing this is likely Tyron's last year. I'd be fine sliding him over to LT and grabbing a guard (or two) in the draft.

That apoears to be the plan. Though I’d love to see him at guard all year just to learn that position. Then see how the draft works out. Once he learns guard he could be even better there. If there is a LT option in the draft then just leave him there. If there isn’t maybe there’s a great guard option and you slide him outside
