So here is a list of the top potential FA's next season (it's not very deep at all) - But we can pretend here for a sec that Jerry dips into FA early next season.

Jevon Holland - S - too expensive
Tee Higgins - WR - too expensive
Trey Smith - G - too expensive
Chris Godwin - WR - hurt, but still too expensive
DJ Reed - CB - too expensive
Amari Cooper - WR - not happening
Dre Greenlaw - LB - coming off achillies in SB but I would love it
Charvarius Ward - CB - too expensive
On list, it's 2 QBs, Z Martin and Tyron Smith next...
Stefon Diggs - WR - I could see Jerry doing this actually - but he's pretty washed
Haason Reddick - DE - who know what his market will be
Bobby Wagner LB- should have happened years ago - might be in Jerry price range now
Garett Bolles OT - could step in at LT and allow Guyton slide to RT - but likely too expensive
Levi Onwuzurike - DT - best available DT not named Osa
Calais Campbell - DT/DE - so old, but still productive

So an all in shopping trip for next season would look like:

Dre Greenlaw - LB - stud if healthy
Stefon Diggs - WR - the new Cooks
Calais Campbell - DT - vet to bridge rookie DTs
Garett Bolles OT - solid vet that fills big hole

Do those moves, along with a healthy Bland, Kneeland, Williams, Dak and the draft get them back in the playoff picture next year?

The glaring need is DT and there just isn't anything available - it's pretty much a must in the draft

That still leaves:
G, RB, S and DE as huge needs next season

The future is bleak...

I’m sick and tired of names. Give me football players. We have a handful on the defense. What we don’t have is a scheme that they believe in.

Yeah I'm really not overly optimistic about this teams chances in 2025. They could easily be better, but that's a pretty low bar right now. Just a ton of holes, and they are likely to lose several starters this coming offseason as well.

IMO the front office really needs to figure out what they want the identity of this team to be next year and focus on building that part of the team up, then in 2026 look to supplement the roster to truly be competitive. I don't think thats what Jerry will do, but it should be the plan where the actually look at a true rebuild plan instead of just looking to add enough talent on the cheap in order to be relevant again.

The thing that is most frustrating is that it sounds like the team will have some cap space and will be drafting early, but we will probably not secure any impactful free agents. I hope we can draft well this year - going to be crucial to the long-term success of this once great franchise.

This year's team is an absolute embarrassment no other way to spin it. Worst team I have seen in since starting to watch them in 1977. That says a lot considering the last Landry years, the Campo years and the last Wade year.

Yep that’s why I said this won’t be the last year we are going to suck. This is just year one of it. It’s going to get ugly in DFW.

Honestly I wouldn't count on having a ton of cap space next year. Itll be a better situation than the 2024 offseason, but this teams cap problems havent gone away plus they'll have more positions to fill after ignoring so many holes this past offseason.

Can fix this in one season if you really wanted to
No, you can't.

There's only one way to fix this team, and that's rebuilding in the trenches. Rebuild the OL first and foremost - draft one high, sign a guy. Hopefully Guyton develops ( i doubt it though). Martin is washed and will need to be replaced. Steele needs to go as well. Our Edge rushers are fine, need some more beef on the DL if nothing else for decent fresh legs to rotate in and out.

Adding talent to the WR corps should be next. RB we should have added to from the draft last year but we didn't. You dont want to draft one high, just take a couple in the middle or late rounds that have one good trait (be it speed, hands, wiggle) and work from there. It would be an instant upgrade over the two washed vets we currently have behind Dowdle. If we can do most of these things next year should be better.

The cap space we have is an illusion bc Micah needs a new deal the offseason. He's looking at 40M a year, and I'm sure Jerry will agree to guarantee every dollar. So, pencil in Micah for a 4 year, 160M deal...... there's your cap space. It's all about hitting in the draft..... as usual.

Absolutely correct-- cannot fix this by next year.

The FO totally bungled our most recent window, and now we're 1 year overdue for a rebuild.

Which is the most frustrating thing imaginable.

They only want to hit in the draft (No FA), but won't make moves to stack enough draft capital to build a deep post season contender.

They'll pay Micah who will be over the hill by 2026-27. Then we'll have to pay the next crop just as we get out from under Micah's crap deal.

This would be the year where the cowboys OVER spend on FA's that aren't good, don't fall for it

I read an article awhile back. Most likely any new deal Micah gets won't increase his cap number until the new numbers kick in. With a few restructures we can easily have over $100m in free cap. So if we want to sign people, we can. Don't listen to anything Jerry might say about not being able to afford players. Now, that doesn't mean that some players won't still be too expensive. Some guys are just overvalued.
