Ranked my Top 15 prospects last night. I am all for taking prospect #2 Jeanty over Graham, but if MM comes back which he likely will, in what universe do you guys believe we will utilize him the way we need to?

If we are keeping MM as a HC it almost makes sense to trade back and collect extra picks with the needs and lack of depth at WR for his scheme, would love some thoughts on my rankings here.

Most years trading back is a decent option. But this year, where we are picking and with this limited class, I don't think they're going to get very much compensation to move back nor do I think you're going to get good enough players to justify the move either.
Stand your ground and take the best player you can at 12, hopefully a defensive stud.

Pretty much what he said.

Depending on who you listen to, this draft has 10-14 players graded as 1st round talent.

Weak WR class
Weak QB class
Deep at DL
Deep at RB

If we can't trade back we should take Walker.
Walker would be fine but I don't like the fact that we've attempted to take LB so high in the draft and failed miserably due to injury...we need some firepower on the second level in round 2-3...especially if a new DC is coming in here and everyone is learning from scratch again

I like this opinion, and i'll say 1 more thing what about trading up? If we need to secure a player like Graham or Jeanty and we are wasting our later round picks on flyers...why not secure a dominant force in RD 1 with giving up little capital, possibly next years 3 or 4?

Weak WR class
Weak QB class

Deep at RB but the drop off from Jeanty is significant... also the drop off from the 1st receiver to the 2nd is also extremely significant...this is why I'm tempted to go defense RD 1 and secure a back like Hampton or Neal in Rd 2

Yeah, let's blow the 12th pick on a rb bc they are so hard to find later in the draft, and they are expensive to sign as free agents.

the big board claims to just show the best TALENT. Though I shake my head at how high either QB is.
Yup - I did this for PROSPECT RANKING and not MOCK DRAFT...this is a week QB class... I talked to Matt Owen Professor O on X and he let me know that he thinks these QB's would be ranked between 4-6 if it was last years draft...although I think Shadeur Sanders with some experience and a mediocre OLINE will shine in the NFL

I mean Atlanta when you say it like that it sounds bad, but when I say that we failed at drafting DL from Michigan and have a 66 percent chance of failing on a top tier DT what does that sound like? Dak needs help - let's be honest here. The offense cannot survive 40 passing attempts per game, not in this league.

But thats also picking toward the end of round 1 where the projections are more difficult. RB is probably the easiest projection in the NFL. Thats why they can be found just about anywhere in the draft. Dowdle , an UDFA, was actually one of the better rbs in the league this year. It just took the coaching staff half a season to figure that out. He would have had 1500 yards this year if MM had utilized him in the first 8 games like he did in the final 9 games.

Even top tier rbs are pretty cheap. The top free agents last year were Josh Jacobs and Barkley. Both make around 12-13M per year. The 12th pick makes around 20M over 4 years. So, if Jeanty is one of the best rbs and you don't do something stupid and sign him before his 5th season (Zeke) , you can save around 7M per year vs a top tier free agent. Now look at DE, top edge rushers make 28-30M a year. Top CBs make 20-22M per year. Top OTs make 26-28M a year. They make 3-4X more than RBs.

So, you can see the huge difference in cap value by simply using rookie contracts to pay for these uber expensive positions. Drafting a rb with a first round pick is a poor cap value. The 12th pick needs to be a premium position like CB or DE or OT....... particularly at #12 were you don't really have to compromise your draft board much to take the position of greater value.

The issue is we have spent at these positions except CB. DE was a 1st round pick defacto LBer but it has now turned into an EDGE. OT was a 1st round pick 2 years in a row. CB has been picked and paid quite high, although he might not be the same you can say we struck GOLD in cap value by hitting on Daron Bland.

So with a top tier CB, an up and coming CB, 2 1st round OT's and 1 HOF Edge who was drafted as a LBer we've hit on 2 of these players. I'm talking about Micah and Tyler Smith. We have hit on Corner outside of the 1st round as well as OL with Beebee. At some point we need to realize this FO is terrible at evaluating the QB, RB and LBer positions for this team.

Walker will mostly be a pass pusher here.

I get that. But it's still over 3 months before the draft. And a lot can happen between now and then. Getting through the Scouting Combine will shake things up.
