Still goes back to what I believe is the reason why there's no FA signings as of yet; no cap space. Until those big contracts Jerry's paying to guys who are no longer on the team have expired, this team won't be in position to make a huge splash in FA.

The Cowboys have made a decision by making no decision on the Dez Bryant contract status.

The decision was taken away when they did nothing to reset his contract after the season.
AND....
When the same level Wide Receiver free agents got monster deals.
AND....
When their cautious CAP management left them room to resign their own players and not enough to get - what is seen as - a top tier FA WR.
AND...
They are not going back to the days of CAP problems by making the one player stab to win it all.

That's true to an extent. They could free up some space by redoing some contracts but haven't seen fit to do it.

But yes, as they sit right now there isn't much space.

It amazes me that we still have posts saying we don't have any cap room. We haven't firehosed money at free agents because we aren't paying Hitchens 10 Million a year to be a backup or Sammy Watkins 16 Million a year to be the #2 (coming off a season where he ended up the #3 for the Rams).

We can create all the cap room we need, and the same people complaining about the lack of FA spending would be complaining about wasting money if we handed out deals like Hitchens and Watkins.

I think a big part of it, the part no one is discussing, goes back to Garret being in limbo. If he bombs this season, with essentially the same team and some filler, they'll have tons of space next year to bring in someone else and do some shopping.

And they have restructured like with Frederick to loosen up enough to resign Loudacer our Long Snapper and hopefully enough to sign a LB and RT. Fleming I think is who they’re looking at from NE so they can move Collins back to LG.

We just don’t have much wiggle room this year in Cap.

Too bad we couldn’t have kept Romo on if he’s going to cost us anyway.

Still not sure why we were in such a hurry to dump him?

romo wasn't going to stick around and be the backup....and i doubt the cowboys wanted to pay him that much to just hold a clipboard

Capspace is no excuse. Philly has no cap space and still made moves. I thought we were supposed to be saving all this money to get martin signed and yet hes not signed. Stephen is just ultratight with the money.
