I got a friend who just bought a new iPhone, but doesn't know how to transfer his contacts from his old android to iPhone.

There's gotta be an app to do that. Anyone know?

Export your contacts to gmail account on droid

then in iphone---settings---mail, contacts, calendars set up account as follows:

Add acount:

Server: Google.com
User Name: "your gmail address"
PASSWORD: "your gmail password"
Discription: google

bam

Get a glass of wine, locate a BiC pen and a piece of paper. Write down all contacts while squinting at your screen then manually type them in the iPhone. By the time you finish, that bottle of wine should be empty :)

Thanks! I will share that with him.

Dude! :)

I use a blackberry, so I just back up my phone to a BB file and then reimport. Easy-peasy.

Can you do it if you have a Yahoo acct, too?

Oh and I'm talking about phone numbers, too. How does that work?

Not sure about Yahoo, but probably.

When you export your contacts it will include the phone numbers. You might have to clean it up a little in gmail, but way better than adding manual.

It will port everything over from your google contacts. So, whatever is in your contacts will carry over.

Ok, gotcha.

But if it's not in his google contacts, sounds like he's probably going to have to transfer manually.

You use the backup manager on the droid to export contacts to google. He can do that over wifi if he's still got the droid phone.
