Trapped Miners In Chile

Anyone heard about this?

Guess these miners have been trapped for like 18 days now. They drilled down and when they pulled the bit out there was a note attached to it saying that the miners were alive.

Now they're saying that it might take 4 months to get them out.

Pretty crazy.

I read about this too. Man no freaking way would I ever be a miner in a mine that deep. I would just never be a miner.

I couldn't imagine. 33 people stuck in a one bedroom flat? Goodness gracious. If they weren't all close friends before, they will be afterwards.

I pray they all get out alive!

Can you imagine how foul that little bunker smells?

33 people, no bathing and no toilet.

I read somewhere that it was 90-95 degrees down there too.

Unbelieveable. You couldn't pay me enough to do their job.

Not quite sure what the laws are in Chile, but I'd of thought it would of been illegal to drill a miner?

That's what I was thinking. That has to be awful!

Don't you think they might step it up a notch and work a little faster on the elevator shaft if human lives were in danger. It's weird how we, as Americans, can get things so fast these days and it takes 4 months to save these men's lives. The technology now is designed to make everything quicker and easier but for this... what the heck? It drives me nuts!

i think the method of careful and slower beat faster and more dangerous. If they drill to hard they can collapse the whole thing on them.

The miners there have some tunnels that they can move around in, as well as the room. They had rigged up some dim lighting using a car battery. Apparantly they rationed their food out really thin. A couple of tablespoons of tuna, a sip of milk and a biscuit every two days.

Chilean TV showed a clip that included audio of the minors singing the Chilean national anthem into the microphone sent down the tube. Apparantly a shift foreman stepped into command and organized the guys. That's leadership and heroism under pressure. As I understand it, granting a successful rescue, it will be the longest survival time in a mine disaster ever. (27 Days is the longest I've been able to find records of)

Wow. That's pretty damn inspiring. I was pissed waiting in a three car line at the ATM today.

That's amazing.
Something to keep in mind when ranting about the petty crap that goes on in the daily life of the middle class. God bless them.

It's a good thing they at least have food. Hopefully they've rationed it out enough because it could get real ugly if they run out.
