Treat Washington like a bye week? Playoff scenarios

Anyone been messing around with the Playoff Machine today, with only 2 weeks left? I have Tampa and Chargers winning to close out this week and then playing around with the scenarios.

http://www.espn.com/nfl/playoffs/machine

Once the Eaglets win again, we have no shot at the NFC East. All the #5-#7 teams have no shot at catching us.

I can’t see the Eagles closing out with three straight losses even without their QB (but would be nice). And I’m happy stopping the rush of Tennessee to go out with some hope for the defense. I go back and forth on if it’s a good deal for teams. Our 90’s Boys always took advantage of it and usually crushed their first opponent but seen all the other teams since fall flat and get kicked out early. Boys are feeling that 17 game grind though and this seems like a mentally tougher team, so some rest for some key players would help.

Week 17 -
  • Looks like Miami vs New England can control their destiny by winning. Looks like Chargers and Ravens will have a hard time blowing #5-#6.
  • Game of the week - Bengals vs Bills. KC, Buffalo and Cincinnati seedings #1-#3 all on the line assuming KC beats Denver which I’m sure they will.
  • Expect Tennessee to put up a hard fight, they are playing for their Tourney Lives. Them or Jags going to win that division and the #4 seed.
  • It’s still on track to be an NFC East Tourney run unless Washington loses against Cleveland. Not likely with Watson’s rusty play. But if they did blow it against Cleveland, Seattle slips in at #7. I’m guessing the Giants beat the Colts and Eagles dismantle the Saints.

Week 18 -
  • Raiders can be the spoiler for their rival Chiefs if they win. It means whoever won week 17 Buffalo and Cincinnati is #1 seed if they win again in week 18. Boy, what a turnaround for the Bengals. Remember them early? Burrows is the man!
  • We can be spoilers and kick Washington out of the Tourney and let Seattle in, or Detroit, or *gulp* Green Bay in. Lions and Green Bay week 18 has outside chance at being #7 seed game. Go Dan Campbell!
  • Seems like Ravens and Chargers will secure a spot and most likely fight for #5-#6.
  • Looks like AFC’s #7, Pittsburgh still has a small shot.
  • Game of the week - Jags and Titans. Possible scenario is loser out, winner in.
  • If the GOAT were to somehow collapse rest of the season, and lose three games, Saints or even the Panthers LOL could be that #4 seed we’re likely to play. Panthers play Buccs week 17 and Saints week 18.
  • NFC, if Eaglets win out they are NFC #1. If Eaglets lose one game and 49ers win out, it’s a San Fran #1. If Boys win out, Eaglets lose two and San Fran loses one, it’s a Dallas #1 seed. Eagles play the Saints and Giants. 49ers play the Raiders and Cardinals. We play the Titans and Washington. I think we have the toughest twosome.
Tourney

Hard to find a scenario where we don’t play the NFC South winner, who my guess will most likely be Tampa Bay. Even if we miraculously got the #1 seed, We’d swap places with the Eagles. So that means we get a quick rematch with the Eagles if we get past the first round or a rematch of last year’s Tourney if the 49ers win the #1 seed. Assuming the Giants or Commanders don’t win because they are lower seeds.

Wouldn’t that be something if we beat and advance in the Tourney against the team that whipped us bad week one and almost made it look like the season might already be over. I can’t say I ever look forward to playing against the GOAT even if dude is 57, he just wins, but I like our chances.

P.S. Apologize in advance if I screwed up any calculations on this playoff machine, it sometimes doesn’t refresh right.

I feel good about beating the Buccs. I think it’s time even if Brady has had our number.

Too late to edit, but my question would be who would you rather face last? San Fran or Philthy? Eaglets feel more beatable now and have a starting QB with shoulder issues.

Never want to lose to the Eagles, but I do not look forward to the 49ers at all. They have been steamrolling lines for several weeks now, and I don’t know if I could take another ‘catch loss’ to another unknown 49ers kid at QB.

the offense should still play but micah needs to sit. If they are still going to play him at DE full time, he needs as much rest as possible

This team should not treat any game like a bye, whether it changes the playoffs or not.
If it won’t impact the playoffs, then you don’t push your injured players out there….let them heal, but all others on deck. This team needs to keep working.

We lost coming off a bye week. The Cowboys need to start playing better football defensively. They’re staggering on defense right now. We need to play everyone who’s healthy enough to play to gain momentum for the playoffs. TY Hilton needs more work. The Cowboys seldom play well having too much time off.

Week 17 doesn't really matter for Tenn. It's all about week 18 for them.

I want the hotter teams in the 6/7 seeds….as the likely five seed, we should want the hottest teams there, not ones that got it months ago by playing well back then…

I guess Detroit and Green Bay are those teams, but jeez it’s pretty clear they really stretched these playoffs.

There’s at least one team too many.

Is there any chance Dallas plays the Bucs. After today they seem like the worst team in the NFL

Well you have to beat the Titans and see what the Eagles do before you can decide anything. If the Eagles win then yes you sit your starters.

Wait a minute, decide this after next week not now.

There's only 2 games left, by some chance if the Eagles lose both and we win both I believe we end up with the #1 seed. Of course if the Eagles win next week it's all moot then you can consider rest but we have to wait and see. You don't rest when you can win the #1 seed and HFA throughout the playoffs.
