Been waiting years since I heard the initial announcement. But here is my conundrum..........to 3D or not to 3D?? That is my question.

3D has pizazz value but imo it is more a distraction to the story and somewhat to the movie, at least that is the best interpretation I can reason.

I say this because I have not seen any movie in 3D but certain,,,, CERTAIN movies that are just visual overload with no real plot i.e. fun movies that are fluff seem ideal.

Tron is so visually stunning it would probably melt my mind without it, so my current thought is see it regular, THEN 3d. Maybe I should just see it 3D. I dunno, help!

You would be going out on the sauce if you aren't down w/ seeing the new TRON movie @ your local IMAX theater.

Seriously, you would be missing out.

I love IMAX but don't venture there as often as I would like because of the price, but it is a COMPLETELY different experience when watching a truly awe inspiring film like TRON.

I re-watched Avatar @ our IMAX and OMG was it awesome.

I have absolute trust that TRON on the IMAX screen will NOT dissapoint.

Git'r done. Just my opinion.

How sad is this. I've never been to the IMAX theater complex we have. I just hate to go see movies at the Theater. Too cheap to go spend a fortune, only to have every third person talking, screwing around and texting like there is no tomorrow at the Theater. Might have to break down.

:)

Give Tron a week to run and then go see it on IMAX during a matinee in the middle of the week. :D

No turdball kids and yutes around during that time.

If it was shot in 3D and is the kinda 3D where they dont spend half the time shooting things at you....and just use dit as depth, i'd say go 3D.

I'd avoid any movie not shot originally in 3D....post 3D sucks.

The original Tron was replete with Cold War themes and references. In one scene, Sark decrees that all programs must renounce their belief in users and swear allegiance to the CPU.

I wonder which contemporary worries and concerns Tron Legacy will address?

So, now the question is...How does one watch the original? Disney sucks and decided to stop production of the DVD and will not be releasing a blu-ray prior to the sequel coming out. There "thinking" was that they don't want people's enthusiasm for the sequel to be squashed by seeing how out of date the original was. I was looking forward to it, but needed to watch the original first because I've never seen it completely. Now my enthusiasm for the sequel is waning fast because I can't watch the first one.

The DVD is rare, so it's going to be $65+ to buy it on ebay. Netflix doesn't have it, pretty much no Blockbuster stores have it. Blockbuster online has it but it's a very long wait, i.e. never. None of the streaming places have it.

So how is one to watch it, without the ridiculous ebay crap?

Anyone know of a place, or if it'll be aired on TV (HDNet perhaps?) in the next couple weeks?

I saw it on TV like a month ago, in fact at that time it was on fairly intermittently.
