Over 1100 players will lose their jobs. Then again, half of those will go to practice squads.

Unlike other seasons, cutdowns are not coming in incremental waves, it's a one day event with the exception of "early birds". There are always surprises as a handful of well known veterans are unceremoniously released from their teams.

This means the Cowboys personnel department will be looking at over a thousand players to see if any of them can be useful to the team.

I imagine they will pay close attention to kickers, guards, linebackers, perhaps even RB's.

Which positions do you feel the Cowboys should be taking a good look at on Tuesday?

3T DT is being overlooked by everyone as a need. Osa is solid but Gallimore and Golston behind him doesn't inspire a lot of confidence to me. Everyone always talks about the 1T and run defense but the 3T plays a big part in that too.

Any player Dallas claims has to be put on the 53 man roster, and it's hard for me to imagine anyone good enough to displace what they have now. This could be a rare year where they don't claim anyone.

There might be a RB out there, but would Dallas really cut Dowdle (who knows the offense, and Dallas is comfortable with) for an unknown? Same thing for the OL. Those are about the only 2 areas I could see them making a move, and both seem unlikely. LB is not the problem some think.

With the exception of draft day, this "cut day" and the day after is when the scouting department will earn their money. It's quite possible some holes on the roster can be amply filled by a guy who was at someone else's training camp. It's never too late to better the depth chart.

OL is a possibility to add a player For depth and maybe a future starter.
LB though they may be better there than most think.
