Guess I need to write this better for the mods. After years and 1000s of tweets I’m done. I used to love the instant news, sports updates, etc. Was great with fantasy football before I quit years back. But I find it’s just a place where people go to troll and get their anger out. I’ll still miss my sports fixes but there is just too much joy stealing there now. When it’s not fun, it’s time to run.

Yeah I used to love Twitter and I haven’t been on since January and don’t miss it much. It’s way too toxic for me. I’m a photographer so I’m on Instagram the most but even that app can get bad at times.

That's why I playfully go in on name callers on this site. The name calling was way worse when I first got here.

I’m thinking of cutting it down to just Insta. Too many friends on Facebook think I want their opinion and not kid pics . I just enjoy posting travel photos and kid stuff for family and friends

Twitter is the more wild of the platforms. I used to follow a commentator who works for a think tank on FB. He has some good insights but he is smug as all hell. I started following him in Twitter, and he gets absolutely dismantled there. On FB he is much more able to create an echo chamber for himself

It used to be handy for quick news and updates on subjects of interest and then it became a haven for misery and its contagious. So, like you, I avoid it like the plague and every time I get pulled in for some seemingly innocuous, funny video, I make the mistake of reading the first few comments and am quickly reminded why I resolved to avoid it in the first place, I hope it goes the way of Myspace, I'm not sure its a net positive or why its even needed

I used to be on it all the time for draft prospects information.
Results at the Combine, results at pro days, rumors about what this team or that team talked to and so on.

Part of last year and now this year I have not bothered with it.

Yeah if you avoid the responses it's not bad.

Yup! I thought it was a great weapon when I used to play fantasy football because I was the only one on it in two leagues so with instant injury news etc I could play the waivers better. Once I quit that it was getting some sports news like what happened yesterday but it has become so scattered and contentious with even simple things now.

Early in life, I naively assumed much more unfettered communication would help people interact better. Back then, telephones, snail mail, newspapers, etc., were the primary mechanisms for communication.

I thought their inherent limitations shackled communication's effectiveness in bringing people together. Over the years, I have witnessed mechanisms for communications advance to (basically) instantaneous connection between people around the world. The freaking entire Earth.

My opinion? Present day communication is far superior technically from what it replaced but it's ability to connect exponentially many more people together, literally every second of each day, has been more of a detriment than an improvement.

I am glad that I never belonged to any social media platform except for Facebook, which I once created an account for but did not actively participate on. No Twitter. No Instagram. Nothing.

Wait. I lie. I did join Tik-Tok to watch videos. Best friend kept texting them to me and many are stupid. My mind's weird. Sue me.
