How does Tyler not fall into the Kenyon Green/Zion Johnson territory? Both of their drafted teams fanbases call them busts. How do they compare to Booker?

I see people putting booker as a plus starter already. But what makes him different than those 2?

I think there was a bit more projection with Green and Johnson. Johnson was a riser in 2022 that was a bit more raw than people realized. He didnt have great technique coming out and rely on being overpowering.

With Green, I think its a case of an OT to OG convert just not working out.

With Booker, I think alot of what you see on film translates to the pros. I don't really see a prime Zack Martin caliber player. More like a Larry Worford

Exactly.
I'll be watching to see if it's a merit based training camp.
God forbid if Booker got beat out in camp by Hoffman or one of the other 20 guards currently on the roster.
Same thinking applies to Guyton earning his starting spot and Mazi earning his.

Ain't no freebies.

Well, if Coach Jerry ends up calling for certain positional starter snap counts again because of draft slot to avoid press scrutiny then we'll know pretty quick it's still the same old ****.

Cowboys!

Watching Booker on tape shows the potential he has. He was at a top tier program, receiving some of the best coaching at the D1 level. Here are a few things to note.

1. He does a very good job of getting his hands on his opponent and locking up in one-on-one situations. He can hold his own against a good bull rush--good anchor--and force a change of direction. He is strong, and it shows.

2. He is a quick thinker at the line. Coaches would say he processes the play quickly. You can see this in the way he handles stunts and can pass off his defender. He's a good help defender in pass protection.

3. He has very good range pulling in the run game. He knows how to shift his hips and redirect his assignment. He's not the quickest but he is quick enough.

He will have to perfect his technique to handle guys like Jalen Carter and Chris Jones. DT's of that caliber and strength can lock into two OL at once and eat up doubles teams. But hopefully, our new coaching staff can do a better job than the previous set of coaches we had. We have the potential to have a very good interior o-line for the next 8-10 years. Let's be happy, or at least hopeful for something that can be a team strength for the post-Dak era of Cowboy football.

I gotcha.

dug up as much alabama stuff I could find this year, looking on the O line play. the guy was a monster most of the time.
I can see why the boys picked him; they clearly wanted a mauler.
now of course the competition is a serious step up but I see no reason why he will not do well

Good question and you probably wont get a great answer to that. I'm a big Booker fan and liked the pick, but we have no clue how good or not good he is until we start to see meaningful reps in the regular season. There is no shortage of 1st round busts in the NFL, even those given the NFL ready title. The draft is more of a crapshoot than people want to think.

Zion Johnson started 39 of a possible 41 games in his career.
- Not great enough to et the 5th year option but has been a starter.
- Apparently he has had some struggles with the mental aspects of the games (picking up stunts, etc.).

Kenyon Green: The Eagles just traded for him. He'll probablly be All-Pro next season...

Anyone in this draft can be a bust just like anyone in any draft. Anointing Booker 1 hour after the draft is stupid. When he lines up against NFL DTs, we will learn more than all his college plays, and the analysis, and all the hype have provided.
