FRISCO, Texas – When asked about how his debut performance in the NFL went, rookie offensive tackle Tyler Guyton responded with a blunt reproach.

"Poorly."

The one-word response was a bit jarring, but he felt it to be appropriate and doubled down on the depiction.

"It's my first sack I've ever gave up. It hurts." Guyton said. "I feel like if I would've done the right things, there would've been none of that. I feel like my losses were on me. That's why I say I was poor."

Guyton wasn't satisfied by the way his performance showed up on tape, or even in the moment. The rookie allowed a sack against Myles Garrett and Cleveland in Week 1 that resulted in an early fumble. Another pressure late in the first half that forced Dak Prescott out of the pocket.

I think he played well , passed the tests against a top DL and MG..It's good that he knows he didn't play great but those who watch the game if he was bad or easy to pull a Chaz green on you know that Garrett would have styed over him all day, he didn't MG actually RUSHED OFF STEELES SIDE MORE from memory. that how you know he played well MG didnt pick on him all day.. Beebee even graded better imagine finding TWO starting OL as rookies?

Self awareness is a sign of maturity and im glad we've got the big man here....

....meanwhile in Cleveland, DeShaun Watson just quoted as saying, "When you’re around me each and every day, you know my aura, you know my energy, you know my character. I think you’ll understand who I really am."

A Tale of Two Cities......

Seems to really matter to him about not giving up sacks. It's probably the first time he has been up against a highly skilled player such as the caliber as Garrett. And more tough ones are coming his direction as the season unfolds. Because it matters to Guyton I feel he learns fast and will only get better at his craft by the studs he will work against. He did aight for his first contest!

Indeed

Honesty and reality helps...because this entire team needs to get better if they want to save McCarthy's job.
Here and now he has a well and strong coached team. Fact. Now he has to win against a good number of teams who have been coached well in differing squads. Then the built in natural challenges come to play, including learning to play strongly together as short termed and coordinated teams.

Now, this is the right kind of talk rather than "best shape of my life", or "never felt better". Humble, keeps thinking about getting better. This kid is a home run draft pick.
