Trying to run the ball against them is a death sentence. Even if you are successful half the time, you're going to end up putting yourself behind the sticks.tough front to test against, if we can run on them unlike last playoff game we got a chance
Last thing you want to be against the niners is one dimensional. Thats what happened to us last year with Zeke.Trying to run the ball against them is a death sentence. Even if you are successful half the time, you're going to end up putting yourself behind the sticks.
Where the OL being strong matters will be on early-down downfield throws and being aggressive in favorable down and distance.
Teams play entire games in nickel and dime, they don't come out of those looks to defend against the run. If you can't throw against them you aren't going to win, it doesn't matter what your run game is doing.Last thing you want to be against the niners is one dimensional. When Pollard was in there, the run game wasnt a world beater, but Pollard at least busted a big play and they had to respect the run game and account for it.
When Zeke was in there, they had no worries, rushed 4 and flooded the passing lanes with the nickel and dime even on first down.
By DVOA, the '9ers are 6th against the pass and 23rd against the run. Part of that is no doubt game situations: teams have fallen behind and so the '9ers stop respecting the run, but they're not a stone wall against the run. The Rams scored on them early in the game with 5 straight Williams runs.Trying to run the ball against them is a death sentence. Williams had a good game against them. Cowboys will be able to run the ball on them.By DVOA, the '9ers are 6th against the pass and 23rd against the run. I thought on this the same way at first and then I countered my own way of thinking with the other extreme. And that's considering how important a W could mean regarding playoff seeding/home field.Should Dallas really rush Tyron out there to expose him to a potential injury just to beat the 9ers in week 5?
Yah, not in agreement at all there. WE need to be able to run the ball and keep them honest.Teams play entire games in nickel and dime, they don't come out of those looks to defend against the run. They should pretty much never hand off against this team.
Nope. Running the ball will consistently put us in second and third and long.Yah, not in agreement at all there. WE need to be able to run the ball and keep them honest.
With Zeke I agree. Waste of time. And it was 3rd and long most of the time.Nope. Running the ball will consistently put us in second and third and long.
Even if you average 5+ per carry, you're still going to end up with a bunch of 1- and 2-yard runs that put you behidn the sticks. We just saw it against Arizona, of all team.sWith Zeke I agree. Waste of time. And it was 3rd and long most of the time.
Did you watch the Eagles/Niners playoff game last year?
