This guy gets it.

He's wants to be a serious professional and all he talks about is doing the right things, listening to the team leaders and getting better. He talks about the routine, the consistency in what he does each day to take care of his body. That type of discipline is rare, particularly for someone so young.

I think the Cowboys got a good one.

Yeah, I feel like looking back we'll see we made the right decision. That's why the Cowboys went after him. He has the tools and mentality to reach his ceiling, and it was higher than the players they had higher on their board.

You've got to love Tyler's mental approach, attitude and real maturity.

You can't help being optimistic for the prospects of his future.

It's very obvious he has all the makings of a winner.

Also, a major blessing for the locker room!

Dak Prescott on Tyler Smith

"I was in his position seven years ago."

I like this guy more and more. What I took away from the interview is he's coachable and flexible. Nice!!! He could be this year's offensive Parsons. A guy that transforms the offense or the attitude of the offense. I'm still hoping we get another tackle signed prior to week 1 cuz if Tyler gets hurt or has to sit out a series then Ball is coming in. I don't want Ball protecting Dak's blindside. That could be disastrous. But this guy has got me excited and looking forward to the season.

Dude has all the right things since going pro. Started training with Duke Manyweather, and attached himself to Martin during OT's

My whole issue with it is that Tyler's strength is run blocking. The guy can simply run block, like no other college player I've seen lately.

Will it translate to the pros?

I think so, so that's why I want him at guard. Putting him at left tackle his rookie season is just asking too much of him. He can do it, but it's just asking too much.

I completely agree. In a perfect world we would have anticipated Tyron missing time, like he's done every season for 6 years. But we have an extremely imperfect front office that didn't prepare properly. So our FO reactive position to football caused us to be less effective in 2 offensive line spots. I would have preferred a solid vet backup for Tyron and let Tyler get his career going at LG. But we're stuck with starting Tyler at LT which, as you stated and I agree, will hurt his run blocking. I think Tyler will be fine at LT once he gets used to it but the first month or so we will have growing pains. But yeah I think we're asking a lot of the rookie but Jerry didn't plan ahead and he "hoped" Tyron would play a majority of the season. I hate having a FO that sees a player's body breaking down consistently throughout the years and not be more prepared. Sucks. But if Tyler is the future at LT then it's baptism by fire and let's see what happens.

Thanks for sharing @Pass2Run

What an impressive young man to listen to, if he stays healthy I can seeing him having a great career. I bet he killed the pre-draft interviews. I really like the way this kid approaches the game.

No problem, Fast.

And agreed, The head he has on his shoulders is likely a big part of the reason the Cowboys took him in the 1st round, despite having Cine ranked higher on their draft board. Tyler's smarts make up for whatever other deficiencies he had, which are mostly in pass blocking. That's why he'll be a good NFL tackle, in due time, in my opinion. He can clean up his technique, I think, no problem.

Hopefully, he gets more comfortable answering questions, and doesn't need to rely on "Ya know, like..." between thoughts as much. I realize it's basically his way of saying "umm", but it gets distracting.

He does seem pretty sharp, and confident.

He's just trying to relax and say all the right things. It's new to him, and there's probably some pressure from the cameras.
