Yes another Smith thread!!! Anyways, is it that he's injured again, or is it how he got injured. As fans we knew it was coming, we just didn't know when! Sad when you know a player isn't going to be available at some point for your team.

On the other hand, this was a non contact injury. If someone rolled up on his leg, would we be more understanding or would we continue to say I know he was going to be injured??

He was probably playing with it for a while.

Eventually the joint fails.

The joint? Isn't it a torn hammy?

His hamstring detached at the knee. I doubt he was playing with it or knew it was coming. They are always extra cautious with him knowing about all his injuries. If he felt weakness or any kind of twinge I think they would have sat him down.

My guess is he pushed off or landed on his foot funny which put stress on the hamstring and it just gave out. I read there is a fracture of the knee cap too which could mean a piece of bone where the hammy attaches broke loose as well. I don't know if we can tell anything about Tyron from this injury. Some guys seem to be more injury prone than others. I do wonder if doctors can tell from an MRI is a particular muscle or bone looks weak and is more likely to give out.

This is an injury where Smith will be considering retirement at the end of the year.

Human beings aren’t supposed to be the size of NFL linemen. Their bodies also aren’t meant to withstand the stresses put on them playing professional football. At some point, something has to give with these players. There’s way too much stress/pressure put on joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, etc.

Smith should have been part of the cuts along with Collins. Instead, Jerry tried to get cute and risked another season's success on Smith.

He then should have used the money to sign a starting tackle and guard.

He doesnt practice, he doesnt play in preseason, scrimmages. This was probably the most extended time he got ramping up for the season. And the guy shatters like glass again. Its worse that its a new injury.

Maybe not playing much, then exerting himself on one play is what caused the injury. I don't think so though. I think it was just a freak accident, a weird movement that stressed his muscle to the breaking point.

The other possibility is something else had already weakened the connection of the muscle to the knee.

he just a tremendously injury prone guy. And since he is sooo good its a huge drop off.

Other than Dak I consider Smith and Martin the most important guys on the team. You lose either and the Oline is in the toilet.

If there was ever an injury that leaves you scratching your head as to what the heck happened it's this one no collision no impact he's just kind of running along and pushes a guy and falls over clutching his knee.

He doesn't get rolled up on just looks like the whole thing gives way hard to believe there was nothing leading up to this happening.
