Any thoughts?

I think if Machida can survive the early rounds his conditioning, quickness, and precision could give Jones problems.

I think Jones handles him and holds on to the belt. This will be his toughest test by a large margin though, and I look for it to go 4-5 rounds. Can't wait!

How does Machida get past those long arms and legs of Jones? That, for me, is the million dollar question.

I've read that Machida been working on his wrestling (with King Mo) and striking from different angles, but Jone's length and reach gives him such a huge advantage over most of his opponents.

Two fighters I have actually seen a couple of fights from each.

I think Jones will make him tap out.

It would be interesting if it came down to wrestling and jiu-jitsu.

I definitely think that Machida is a more formidable opponent for Jones than either Shogun or Rampage due to his superior cardio, quickness, and more diverse arsenal.

Whatever happens, I hope it's a little more exciting than Jones v. Rampage.

Let's make it official.

Featherweight bout: Mark Hominick vs. Chan Sung Jung - Jung is one of my favorites though.
Welterweight bout: Claude Patrick vs. Brian Ebersole
Light Heavyweight bout: Tito Ortiz vs. Antônio Rogério Nogueira - Tito is one of my least favorites.
Heavyweight bout: Frank Mir vs. Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira
Light Heavyweight Championship bout: Jon Jones (c) vs. Lyoto Machida

I'm not an MMA junkie so I usually only look forward to the main event, 2 fights at max if it has some more of the more notable guys but this one has me pretty jacked for 3 of them......honestly haven' heard of some of the other guys.

Machida's style probably poses more problems for Jones than any of his other opponents. Machida is a counter-striker and could catch Jones. But, as someone already stated, Jones has such an uncanny reach advantage over his opponents, it's going to be hard for Machida to get a clean shot when he has to dodge a 83 inch reach.

But if anyone can, Machida can.

However, Shogun took it to Machida and overwhelmed him. Jones did the same thing against Shogun. I wonder if he'll apply that strategy to Machida. We'll see.

During the second Shogun fight it looked like Machida caught with a hard shot to the temple. I don't think Machida got exposed. It's just something that happens from time to time with powerful strikers as we saw when JDS decked Velasquez.

I think we're going to finally see someone try to kick Jones' skinny legs. I swear, the only reason Jones can make 205 is because his legs are so thin, because he is huge otherwise. If his legs were thicker, he'd have to fight heavyweight.

The Jose Aldo strategy. Not sure why we don't see more of that (Shogun v. Henderson, for instance).

If you're asking why we don't see more of that against Jones, it's because Jones has an incredible reach advantage. The counter to a leg kick is a straight right/left. With Jones reach, he'd kill a guy trying to kick his legs.

Machida is a very dangerous fighter for Jones, his aggressiveness plays right into Machidas strengths.

The whole LHW division has turned into a huge paper, rock, scissors contest

That's true, but Jones has such a tremendous reach it's not so easy for Machida. Sheesh this seems like it will be an awesome fight, I hope they don't let me down.

My money is on Jones for sure but I can't say I'd be too shocked to see Machida win.

Machida is about to get KO'd

The only fighters who have a chance against him is Evans a Anderson.

I agree that it's hard to envision someone defeating Jones, but he does get wild at times, and can be vulnerable to a precision counter-attack if mounted quickly.

What time do you guys think the main even will start?

I have a Xmas party to go to and it starts at the same time the entire event starts.

I know they have the fights set for predetermined times but I've never paid attention to when that is.
