AUSTIN (KXAN) - The University of Texas is evacuating all of its buildings due to threats on campus.

"Immediately evacuate ALL buildings and get as far away as possible," read a message posted at 9:53 a.m. on the campus' emergency alert website. "More information to come."

UT Director of Communications Rhonda Weldon said the university got a call around 8:35 a.m. from a male with a middle eastern accent claiming to have placed bombs all over campus.

He said he was with Al Qaeda and that these bombs would go off in 90 minutes.

President Williams Powers has been notified, and officials are now evacuating all of the buildings out of an abundance of caution.

I would bet that someone is going to prison for a hoax.

If Al Qaeda had done this, they definitely would call and tell them prior to. They would just blow them up and kill as many people as possible.

Probably a kid that had a test that he wasn't prepared for or something of the sorts.

North Dakota State University in Fargo was also evacuated this morning due to bomb threats.

I'm from North Dakota and have friends that go there.

WTH is going on today? Is this like National Call in a bomb threat day?

No, but yesterday was "go out and party way to damn hard day" and now the students are way to hung over to take their tests. :laugh2:

Man that makes me worried about what they are willing to do to get out of November test, if they are doing this for just September test.

IF we had used a nuke on that mountain back in October 2001, things would be so much better now

Doubtful. The snake just keeps growing new heads. It is no longer just one guy and it never was.

Yeah, telling them before would kind of defeat the purpose.

Ha. My dad's from Elgin, North Dakota. He went to UND. I love it up there. I haven't been in like 12 years.

The IRA aka civilized terrorists tended to to do that, but yeah I agree, telling someone you are going to blow them up defeats the entire purpose of doing it.
