11:21 a.m. - The Cowboys didn't seem overly concerned, but veteran tackle Tyron Smith sustained an ankle injury near the end of Thursday's practice with the Broncos.

Smith fought through the injury for most of team drills but eventually was held out for the final plays for precautionary measures.

Injuries have plagued Smith in recent years. He has missed three or more games in every season since 2014, including six last year. While Smith still made his eighth Pro Bowl in 2021, he's been hampered mostly by neck and back issues.

Smith is not expected to play Saturday night against the Broncos, and like could miss all three preseason games to fully prepare for the Sept. 11 opener with the Bucs.

9:21 a.m. - The rookie defensive tackle has been impressive for most of camp, but he had to leave practice Thursday against Denver with a knee injury.

Ridgeway was able to limp off on his own power, but the Cowboys' medical team held him out for the rest of the practice.

It's unclear on Ridgeway's status for the game, along with tight end Ian Bunting, who had to leave practice with a neck issue.

Injuries is a norm around the league. Except of course for Tyron Smith. :muttley:
Top NFL Players with Preseason Injuries:
  • Kyler Murray, Cardinals: Murray missed all of practice last week due to COVID-19 and is now sidelined with a sore wrist.
  • David Bakhtiari, Packers: He hasn’t practiced yet after tearing his ACL in 2020 postseason. However, the Packers are optimistic he will return early in the season.
  • Matthew Stafford, Rams: Stafford is working in individual drills after getting an injection on his throwing elbow.
  • Mekhi Becton, Jets: The former first round pick is expected to miss all of 2022 after suffering another knee injury.
  • Jason Kelce, Eagles: He’s out indefinitely after undergoing a scope on his elbow.

Tyron Smith=Best shape of his life every off season, every time we're playing football Tyron Smith= On the injury report!! Maybe he's having too many days off practice and needs to practice more to get game ready!! He's going to nurse this injury all season!!!!! Cut him

Tyron Smith is already held out of half of the practices and he STILL found a way to get hurt.

He's practiced like twice this whole training camp....

It is so so naïve that the front office doesn't prioritize swing tackle

That's what I'm saying maybe he needs to practice more instead of getting held out

A month to go before the season opener. May be typical TC soreness.
One can train a certain way for months. Then enter some new routine, you will get some normal soreness and discomfort.

For sure something to monitor though given his past history. But at this point I will not be concerned.

Ankles and knees for an OL are not a concern - lots of banging going on around those and people fall on them or roll into them almost every play.. injuries are going to happen, its not if but when. Now if it was a non contact injury those are more conerning. Not sure when or how he got hurt but unless it's the high ankle sprain, then he should be fine for opening night.

Hang nails get reported or attention.

One day Stafford complains about his elbow, next report, he's blowing out the D.
