Use Turpin like Deebo Samuel

The Romans were famously good at taking what their opponents used to beat them and reinventing it into something that was better. For example, when they battled the Phoenicians during the Punic Wars, the Phoenicians were particularly good at sailing. After a battle, the Romans learned how to maneuver their boats better and used a contraption that allowed a ramp to spike down onto the end of the boat and fight on essentially the boat to shift the advantage to them as they were better on land.

I use this historical reference to say that we can do something similar with Turpin. One thing that the 49ers beat us with was using Deebo Samuel on various running routes and fakes to set up the other plays. I think we can copy that and outdo them on that. Turpin is lethal with the ball in his hands. So, not only should we see jetsweeps, but maybe we can run other plays such as direct snaps to him and have him essentially read option it where he can run with it, or toss it to Dak on a reverse and have Dak throw it to him on a corresponding route. Plays like this can be used creatively to take what the 49ers did and use it as an even bigger weapon against other teams with Turpin.

I believe it's too hot in that suit, you'd better come out for air:)

Use Turpin like Deebo Samuel?

You going to get him killed

Well, it's an idea haha. At least the start of some creative scheme we can use with him. Could use a bit of ironing out, but I think if we are clever with how we use him in situations, we can make quite the weapon out of him. Besides, it'd be nice to take what the 49ers did to us, and find a way to weaponise it for our use.

Deebo's got about 55 pounds on Turpin.

Hopefully, Turpin can be what we hoped Tavon Austin would become.

That'd work too. There must be a way to use him as a weapon. Maybe not exactly like what the 49ers did, but in a way that best uses him in the run game as well as the pass game that fits his style as well as our own.

Turpin isn’t nearly the size of Deebo. He wouldn’t survive one game being used like Deebo. Lol

Pollard is your Deebo guy. Not Turpin.

Right, not sure any of the coaches are interested in manslaughter charges!

Sorry Furr, but cant agree here.
Turpin while sharing some traits comparable to Deebo, Turp is Deebo light, and should be used sparingly and appropriately.
This team needs Turp to remain healthy as long as he can.

Fair enough, either him or Pollard. If we can find a player who we can use to do what SFO did to us would be great.

Exactly, they need to figure out how to get him out in some wheel routes and space in the passing game as much as possible including using 2 back sets if necessary!

I want to give a history lesson but I might get kicked off with my reply....

With that said....Pollard is more Deebo than Turpin. I know Turpin is a new toy but don't forget about the transformer we a couple of Christmas's ago!

I'm all for using Turpin a little, but you are looking at jet sweeps, bubble screens and maybe some dump offs in space and perhaps a downfield attempt every few weeks or so. But nothing like how Deebo is used. I'm thinking he averages about 3 touches (maybe just under?) per game but makes some nice plays for us. I think early on with no Gallup and our current OL set up it would really help if we could use his speed out in space a little

Pollard works too haha. Pollard in that role would be clever. We can create a lot of options with him.

Exactly, him or Pollard in some creative roles can be very useful.
