Times are changing in the Big 12. The scary thing for Texas is that most, if not all, of the Big 12 South should be better next year. A&M has their nucleus returning, OK State will have their QB back and maybe Blackmon, OU will have Landry Jones and their defense will be better + their Broyles and Murray replacements got some experience (Finch and Stills), Griffin will be better for Baylor, and Tuberville will have another year to implement his style on that Texas Tech team.

Funny thing is no one even knows who your team is since your whole life is wrapped around Longhorns/Roy Williams. I feel your pain. I am not the most avid UT fan but I certainly cheer for them and this was a very tough year. They need some playmakers on both sides of the ball and I am sure they'll recruit as well as they always do and be making some noise next year.

They haven't had a losing season since 1997. That's outstanding. They'll be back.

+1. The reality of big time college football is you're going to have your good years where things come together, followed by a down year where you have to groom the brand new QB, you lost last year's star receiver to the NFL, and there's a couple new fellas on the lines.

5-7 for Texas is extremely disappointing, but Mack Brown is a darn decent coach and I doubt it will be much more time before they're back to the top 10.

How does this happen with the way they recruit?

I understand that after losing McCoy or whomever that OK maybe you aren't going to play for the NC again...but to not make a bowl...not a BCS bowl but any bowl?

Seems unbelievable to me.

McCoy and Shipley were the entire UT offense last year. Without that connection in the passing game the team isn't the same. Is the QB to blame or is it a lack of quality WRs? I'm not sure but the passing game seems to be where the disconnect is.

Yup, the Texas skill players carried that offense for the last 3 years. Texas hasn't been able to develop any good offensive linemen in that span. Colt, in his first year starting, got to play with 3 OL who would go on to play in the NFL. His sophomore year, he played with Tony Hills, who was a 4th round pick later. By having that OL help during his 1st two years, it gave him a chance to develop and get confidence...confidence that would be huge for him in 08 and 09, when the OL really had no talent but by that time, Colt was good enough to carry the offense.
