I have been hard on LVE since his second season, but the defense has been worse without him.

I still think he's too slow to react, but it is clear that he has done a solid job of quarterbacking the defense and complementing the defense enough to allow the better players to make plays.

I am glad the Cowboys will have him back for the playoffs, but I wonder if he can last a full game much less a long playoff run should that happen.

I think people understimated the impact of not just the injury to Vander Esch, but to Brown, as well. All of a sudden the DL can't get pressure because the secondary isn't holding up. We can always want better players, but that doesn't mean the players that are there aren't doing their jobs. And it becomes noticeable when they're not there.

Sometimes, we need to stand on the table and laud the contributions of our less than superstar status players. It is always easy to nitpick the sporadic failings of players, and ignore the larger body of solid work they do.

Yup, he was a huge loss even if this year he wasnt his best, same with Lewis too. Watching defensive highlights of earlier season games and its not like we got to the QB faster than we did now, but after they held the ball for a fair bit, basically a lot (not all) coverage sacks

Thanks for the information - outstanding work (as always).
It took a while - the first three seasons he being a nonfactor - but the Cowboys' patience with Armstrong has been rewarded in 2021 and 2022.

or it feels that way IE cumulative losing Lewis, brown, LVE and Hankins in 3 week period plus others like Parsons on one hand and one leg and tank with foot and kearse in and out..we got hit hard and it dominoed.

LVE is a very large LB and may not be as fluid or quick as many guys but is very much needed.
Dallas is unlikely to pay him big money in off-season so will be interesting as I imagine he wants as much GTD money as possible.
