Cowboys Maintain Cap Shape
By Rafael Vela

The Cowboys have the eighth most cap space among the 32 teams, with $11.9 million in wiggle room, according to ESPN’s Len Pasquarelli. (Protected story, so no link.)

Of NFC rivals only Minnesota, Green Bay and San Francisco have more cap room.

Among division rivals, the Eagles have $10.4 million in cap space, the Giants have $5.8 million and the Commanders have $3.9 million.

The article did not say, but I’m assuming these figures include rookie draft pools.

Here's the list he's referring to:

The list: As of Wednesday evening, there were a dozen teams in the league with more than $10 million each in available salary cap room, and that included three franchises with more than $20 million apiece in spending room. The remaining cap room, by team, from top to bottom:

Buffalo, $22.6 million;
Cleveland, $21.8 million;
Tennessee, $19.6 million;
Green Bay, $15.8 million;
San Francisco, $13.7 million;
Jacksonville, $12.9 million;
Dallas, $11.9 million;
St. Louis, $11.2 million;

Oakland, $8.3 million;
Cincinnati, $7.8 million;
Carolina, $7.0 million;
Seattle, $6.6 million;
San Diego, $6.4 million;
New England, $6.3 million;
New York Giants, $5.8 million;
Chicago, $5.1 million;
Tampa Bay, $4.9 million;
Kansas City, $4.6 million;
Denver, $4.3 million;
Washington, $3.9 million;
Indianapolis, $3.7 million;

I'll go with Adam and say $12.4 million.

Pasquarelli is off because he gets his information from the NFLPA, which mistakenly (for the moment) has Sean Ryan on our roster. He signed with the Jets, not us. So they have his $850,000 salary counting against us, which incorrectly reduces our cap room by $490,000. So instead of $11.9 million as Pasquarelli says, we actually have $12.4 million of cap room.

don't tug on superman's cape, don't spit into the wind, and don't argue cap numbers with Adam.

Now if only a FA was available who could backup Ferguson this year. There isn't anyone available in the draft (except Branch/doubt he falls to us) who could help out immediately; and if we want til later round, like we did with Stanley, we can be sure that player won't help much either. Sure would be nice to know if Cowboys see anything in Stanley to make them hopeful he could help this year.
