Wade Phillips used to coach Shaun Phillips on the Chargers and it seems the player isn't too afraid of what his former coaches team is doing these days.

Here's Philips on First and Take this morning along with Skip Bayless and Jim Trotter from SI.com...

The Cowboys do not play the Chargers in the regular season, but they do face them in the preseason on August 21st. I would like to see some guys roughing up Phillips so next time he has a different take on this issue.

Basically I want Marc Colombo to take a bite out of Shaun Phillips *** in this game.

Not much of a headline. Phillips did say Dallas is a contender, but they gave SD much more grief than Dallas. All (except Phillips) gave SD zero chance of going to the SB.

I used to hate skip, but now I could care less. He's actually been right for the most part, though.

I think Phillips is just a little upset that the Chargers and Cowboys are both very comparable, yet the Chargers aren't getting as much hype.

The Cowboys are getting a lot of hype, so yeah, it may be difficult to match that.

The Chargers were lucky Felix Jones didn't carry the football more in that game.

I love trotters point about the kicking game. I'm going to be looking at the very closely during the preseason. Hopefully we have a few situations in the preseason where the kickers have to make some pressure kicks. I want to see who can perform.

I mean they did come into our house and beat us....and we did NOT look good in the process. Why should he be impressed? I feel the same way about the Saints. Sure, they won the Super Bowl. But I would love to see them play in the NFC East. I keep thinking back to how EASILY we punched it in TWICE around the goaline against the Saints. Short yardage is touch sledding in the NFC East...even against bottom feeders like the Commanders. I just don't think the Saints are all that physical. In fact, the Commanders scored a ton on them and would have beaten them had they made an extra point. Again, they are the Super Bowl champs, but I am not afraid to play them.

He said they will do better without Cromartie, Jackson, Tomlinson and McNeil. I seriously doubt they do better with those core guys not playing next year. That guy just likes to hear himself talk I think or he is smoking that good peyote!!!!!!

This won't be popular... but I can sort of see his point. We went 13-3, 1st round playoff bye, #1 seed, and lose to the Giants at home. We went 9-7 the following year, missing the playoffs in week 17 in a "win and get in" game. Then, last year, we go 11-5, finally win a playoff game, and then get absolutely destroyed by the Vikings. Couple in with the fact that San Diego recently beat us in our home stadium, and we are getting some "Super Bowl contender" love... and yeah, I can see why Phillips might hold the stance he does.
