Amazing how one game can flip the vision for a season after a very disappointing loss . But this game was it.

Not only did we beat a 8-1 contender on the road in the biggest road win in Cowboys history , we did it dominating and controlling all aspects on the field.

As much as I don’t believe our owner should be talking I do agree the Cowboys looked like yesterday a team which could make a push to the Super Bowl.

If we play like that we’ll definitely be a tough out. . This doesn’t mean we could still stump our toe again. And we might have to do it all on the road. But as I look around the NFC right now I don’t see any teams I can’t see us beating if we play like this.

Sometimes it takes an embarrassing loss to wake a team up. In the past when facing top teams Cowboys tend to play not to lose, yesterday they came out looking to win. No doubt this win means little if they turn around and lay an egg this Thursday but yesterday the Cowboys dominated on all areas. II heard how great Jefferson was, not yesterday as Diggs was on him most of the time.

Wait……so we weren’t scoring too fast?

The biggest takeaway I get from the Vikings game is the Cowboys lack of consistency. One week they look like world beaters, next week in anybody's guess.
I tend to agree with Roy on this . That’s the nature of the NFL. You’re only as good as your last game .

Most importantly this game illustrates we have the potential. We shall see if we can put it together in January.

Yep,overall very impressive .

To me the key for our success is getting off to fast starts . Getting the lead where we can stay on the ground offensively which opens everything else up for us . And it puts pressure on opponent to throw the ball and we can cause havoc with pressure while they have to get away from running the ball.

If we get behind , then have to get way from running the ball and opponents can run the ball , we aren’t as effective on either side of the ball.

Don’t think so. I know one of our early drives was over 7 minutes.

Most importantly we got the lead early. I believe in last two seasons we are now 15-0 when leading at halftime .

Fast starts are now another recipe for the Cowboys success.

In other games vs top teams Cowboys to me look as if they are trying to avoid mistakes not attacking and being aggressive. The more you try to avoid bad plays the more you are apt to make bad plays because you hesitate. Yesterday Cowboys came out looking to make plays. Once the game started to snowball on Minn there was nothing they could do.

Yep
This Cowboys team is simply more dominating when getting off to fast starts and the lead. 15-0 last two years when leading at halftime.

Did not hurt getting the ball to start the 2nd half, After Cowboys scored twice before halftime which included the 60 yarder from Maher going up 23 to 3 then getting the ball to start 3rd qrt and scoing a TD to go up 30 to 3 before Minn ever touched the ball in the 2nd half. To me those sequence of plays at the end of the 2nd qrt and the start of the 3rd qrt pretty much sealed the game.

Problem is the coaching

we are a run first team and thats how we've wom games for years

our OC decides some games to turn into the Brees Saints and chuck it 50 times and then wonders why we dont win

McCarthy has said he now wants 30 rushes a game, which is a good thing.

Years ago it was said that Emmitt Smith needed 20 carats of gain for the Cowboys to win. now it's been said we need a hundred yards on the ground for the Cowboys to win. Jimmy Johnson new Emmitt was the key so Emmitt had 340 rushing attempts every year we won a Super Bowl. With McCarthy saying 30 rushes a game he's now taking the Jimmy Johnson approach, IMO. A good coach would find out what it takes for his team to win and make sure that happens.

McCarthy gets it.

yep which is why pollard needs to start and we need to be aggressive early in games to get a lead.

no two games are ever the same, but I hope we have learned how to control the clock and move the ball. The defense played great and will continue to improve, but no two teams are the same so the game plan will always need tweaking.

well, that's one of them. Sometimes they can incorporate added TE's for variety or speeding the tempo.

But yesterday, was one that could be a template for upcoming games.

It looked to me like the Cowboys played ‘their game’ perfectly. They jumped on the opponent and got a lead early, that pushes the opponent into more passing situations. And those pass attempts clearly play into the defense’s strengths in pass rush. They were also much more consistent in stopping the run. Hopefully that’s a sign of issues being addressed and a positive sign for the future.

So very very true, and makes you wonder just how important vocal team leaders actually are, the entire team responded.
MP called out not only the defense but spoke in a demanding tone to this entire team after the GB loss.
I believe that MP is the catalyst, the motivating factor on this team, and everyone pays attention when MP is pissed.
If that is what it takes every week to pump this team up to the level they played vs the Vikes than MP can say and do whatever he wants.
Some were upset that MP was still in late, but that is a very hard decision to pull MP if he wants to stay in.
It wasn't on the coaches telling MP to go back out, MP controls his own snaps.

Diggs proved yesterday to be one of the best matchups if not the best in the league vs Jefferson.
I was surprised and elated.
Diggs isnt leading the league in picks, but he has evolved his game in coverage, and his INTs will be forthcoming, but Diggs is a much more well rounded corner from just last season.
