Each year between July and September, police search for and eradicate marijuana statewide to prevent the plants from being harvested. Malcomb says 19 officers hand cut the plants instead of spraying them with poison in Friday's operation because they didn't want to harm nearby farm crops.

The plants were to be doused with diesel fuel and burned.

==========

They have done this for years in Jackson County (where I live).

The running joke is they bring the state, county, city cops all together and stand around the fire to make sure all of it is burned and destroyed.
Then they go and stimulate the local economy by buying all food in site. :laugh2:

The donut shops love it :laugh1:

It grows wild a few hundred feet from where I sit right now. It's been doing so since literally the 17 century when Ethan Allen, one of the fathers of the state, had a homestead down here and cultivated hemp. Being in a flood plain on a river delta the place is relatively unchanged. Every fall the local cops come down and cut down a big pile of this unsmokeable ditch weed and call a press conference to make sure the public knows they are hard at work keeping us all safe.

Yeah we get the helicopters flying around where I work as there are some "fields" around. Everybody knows what is going on.:laugh2:

All together:

Up in smoke, that's where my money goes
In my lungs and sometimes up my nose
When troubled times begin to bother me
I take a toke and all my cares go up in smoke

Up in smoke, donde todos es mi rey
There are no signs, que dice no fumer
So I roll un "Bomber", y me doy, un buen toke-ay
Y despues I choke, y todos mis cares, go up in smoke

Come on let's go get high

Up in smoke, that's where I wanna be
'Cause when I'm high the world below don't bother me
When life begins to be one long and dangerous road
I take a toke and all my cares go up in smoke
I take a toke and all my cares go up in smoke

I would love it if they made Cheech and Chong honorary deputies on those days. :laugh2:

Being a loving resident of my beautiful state of Alaska for nearly 30 years now, I have to say.

Only 6500 pot plants?

:laugh2:

The Murdoch thread brought out the lefties, and this will bring out the potheads. Excuse the redundancy. ;)

I love how they pump themselves up over busts like this.

Whenever they get a good one, they thump their chests like they are actually making a dent in the industry. This is literally less than a drop in the bucket. This might be one water molecule in the bucket.

Meanwhile, go to any campus in America and you could find weed in less than a minute. Hell, go to any high school and you'd probably have an easier time finding it because of the stupid youths who like to broadcast their coolness.

That is not that big of a crop.

We have had much bigger crops siezed (and always burned) in my county.

We have also seen the ohio cops do similar things across the river in meigs county.

Gotta laugh when i see the cops boasting about this like they cured cancer or something.
Smoking a joint does the body no more harm then smoking a cig or downing a beer.
Next thing ya know they will start showing midnight movies featuring reefer madness:laugh2:
