Kearse was a big problem in run defense vs the Packers.

He plays about half of his snaps as a LB in 3 safety sets.

He was too easily blocked by TEs and definitely can't shed blocks by OLinemen.

Clark is bigger and faster.

Draft Measurements
Clark 6-3, 239
Kearse 6-4, 216

Clark is clearly faster on the field.

Maybe they will watch the video and make a adjustment. Quinn made it sound like all that was wrong is players not staying in there assignments. Not staying in position. I ain’t buying that.

Yeah....seems like there was a "scheme" issue too. But, I'm not a coach, so I could be wrong.
Your not wrong. They figured something out. First teams were running off the edge. That can be because DE getting upfield to fast after the qb. But we sealed that up. Now they are right down the throat. Like the rams playoff game, they are catching us in the middle of stunts with the DTs. Huge holes and lanes. We need to line up and play.

This is good day to have LVE, Barr, Clark on the field and Jabril active.

He didn't look good either did any of the secondary guys in run support, Wilson was quiet, Hooker looked lost, Bland getting burned in pass, Diggs had opps, took terrible angles

LVE who I supported had a bad game and Carlos Watkins doesn't belong on the FF field

Honestly, the Defense was better w/o Kearse for whatever reason. Jayron best step it up because he was not filling holes or getting off blocks...he was talking to media, but didn't perform Sunday. Lastly on #27, he has an out on his contract after the season, I'm just saying.

DQ is still having 3 safeties out there expecting to stop the run and that's on him. 3Ss personnel is going to have to be a sub-package, and this defense needs a more stout base grouping.

Agree. Makes sense to have Clark start

Relax, they will be fine. DQ, knows his future might hinge on this game.

Yeah he needs to use LBs. We have some big ones that can thump. Strange no Cox on the field lately. Maybe not healed up.

that's the same excuse under the old regime...i'll chalk that up as coach speak and someone is ****** up and they are not saying it...Kearse put it on the backers and ends in his press conf this week but if you look at the tape he's an issue too. Another problem is these guys a lot of them on our defense are nobodies that Quinn turned into household names for at least us fans. Now they don't want to get off the field when they are hurt because they can be replaced - and it's hurting our team...this all starts with Micah IMHO because he wants to "die" on the field but doesn't understand when he's hurt someone else might make a bigger impact

Jabril has contributed less than Tolbert...

yeah, but he’s like a backup quarterback that’s never played…..loved by the fans until they actually play.

of course, we had a different experience with our backup so it may not apply here as much as it does elsewhere

We shall see, Clark sure didn't play a lot last week

watch DQ, will he adjust or be stubborn and run his hybrids defenses and too much nickel and dime when cooks had 70 yards at the half? Kearse is only an issue if DQ allows him to be.

Been clamoring for this for a couple of weeks now. The 4-2-5 puts a smaller Safety in the box that can be blocked. Just adding a LB would solve this. I get not wanting to take Kearse and Wilson off the field as they are playmakers but it’s not working against the run.

The big play by WR Watsons vs Bland was literally an impossible play for Bland to defend.

Bland either had to align deeper or get help.
- It was a great route design by the Packers where Watson came out of the 3 WR bunch formation and took a perfect angle behind Bland that made it impossible to defend.

Bland had excellent coverage vs Watson on a play similar to the one where Watson scored the TD vs Brown.
