Out of curiosity, how do television shows and movies generally get these things inaccurately? I'm pretty sure most of these productions have an adviser from the Navy.
I'm actually curious to know what you would nitpick about. I've always wanted to know what was real or fake as far as being a submariner goes.
1. There are lack of officers onboard the sub. You would have various division officers, but weapons officer should be very critical component of the sub.
2. The COB will never, ever address LT by first name, period
3. LT won't be quiet while enlisted are ridiculing her, she would have put them in their place immediately. Full LT is not a newbie, She would have had at least 4 years of learning her job and dealing with subordinates.
4. When crossing the equator, the tradition is going through a initiation, initiating WAGs (those who never crossed the equator) to become a Shellback, not playing few songs
5. Noway Capt. address Admiral by first name, that simply won't happen
6. SEAL team members will not question officers while they are going through the authentication of an order, that is so far fetched, completely unbelievable.
7. The lack of military protocol between enlisted and officer is very disheartening and gives wrong impression to civilians about the Navy, while we aren't hardcore like Marines, but there are strict protocol between enlisted and officers.
Those are few of the things that I remembered.
